INTRODUCTION

It is commonly known that ranking well on Google is a necessity for businesses today.

Next, we will provide information about both Bing and Google with the intention of helping you decide which search engine, if not both, is right for your business.

WHAT IS GOOGLE?

Let’s be real—you’ve probably heard of Google and most likely use it on a regular basis.

Google is one of the top five most visited websites on the entire Internet.

Naturally, this means that Google is the #1 search engine in use today and is currently accessed by 88% of global users.

Ranking well in Google is a necessity for any business.

WHAT IS BING?

Bing is a product of Microsoft that was launched in 2009.

Bing boasts 150 million unique users that search for local businesses and services.

Given the way that Bing’s search algorithms work, Bing has become known for its impressive localised search results—and as Google’s “little brother.”

HOW DO THEY COMPARE?

There are several similarities between Google and Bing. For example, both search engines highly value PageRank and link authority.

However, there are important differences between the two, including: Google is much better at keyword matching, and

recognising synonyms and context around keywords searched.

When searching for ambiguous search terms, Google tends to provide the most searched option, while Bing provides the most localised option.

Older websites and .gov and .edu websites are given privilege by Bing, while they are not by Google.

SO, WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Ideally, you’ll choose both. However, if funds are tight and you must choose one search engine to optimize your assets for, you’re safe choosing Google.

With that in mind, Bing is a powerful option for small business that want to take advantage of its localised preferences to receive local visitors.
