Sewing Tips & Directions: No SEAM Allowance. All FELT pieces are sewn raw edge.

1. Separate the Red and Green Felt Mittens into pairs, creating a left and a right by turning over half shapes so the thumbs face the opposite way. You will have 12 pair of Red and 12 pair of Green.

2. Decorate each “pair” with a white snowflake. Just

peel away the adhesive back, position and press in place. Be sure to align exactly where you want if before pressing in place.

3. Position each shape, making sure you leave room

at the top for the white cuff.

4. SNOWFLAKE – You can leave the snowflakes as is or you can stitch each of them down with white thread. I left mine without stitching.

5. Sew the bottom of the White Cuffs onto the top of the mitten, overlapping just enough to be able to sew them together. Use White thread. Trim off any excess of the colored felt on the inside close to the cuff.

6. Place the pair of mittens WRONG sides together. Pin in place, if needed to prevent from shifting.

7. Using a wide blanket stitch and white thread sew all the way around the outer edge of the cuff and the mitten. Start and stop at the outer edge. Do NOT sew the top closed. Backstitch at the beginning and end of each mitten.

8. Sew the 4 – 2-1/2” WOF Holiday print strips together mitering the seams to reduce bulk.

9. Fold each of the long raw edge sides to the inside middle and press. If you first press the entire length in half it will be easier to find the center as you fold in either side in. Be sure to leave a small space in the very middle so the fabric does not buckle.

10. Once the two sides are folded in, fold in half again. Press the entire length of the 4 layer

strip.

11. Topstitch down the entire length of the garland strip along both edges to secure all the folds.

12. Measure 10” from one end and sew your first mitten here.

Alternate mitten colors starting with a Green, then a Red until all 24 mittens are sewn on. Space each mitten 6” apart. Do not allow any extra space for the size of the mitten (or you will run out of garland). Turn each mitten so the corner of the cuff near the round side meets the top of the fabric strip. Sew back and forth on the corner of the cuff just enough to secure it.

13. Knot each end of the garland and pull tight to secure.

14. Your Mitten Advent Calendar Garland is complete!

15. Printed on the following 3 pages are 24 Advent “Good Deed” suggestions to complete your Advent Garland. These are numbered so they can be easily printed and inserted inside each of the mittens. The wording is in alternating colors starting with RED. A red message goes inside the first green mitten. Print the sayings on heavy card stock. Hand cut on the lines to create a “kite” shape or use Shape # 15, Kite die from the 4” Qube and die cut. Using heavy card stock will make them more durable as everyone will want to pull them in and out so they can read them all!
