Quality Learning, Care, Innovation, Opportunities & Technology Congratulations to Year 6 and all our classes who last week had a very successful Mini Fete. Great organisation and plenty of variety ensured all students had a successful time. Fantastic effort to all. We raised $7400. Well done Year 6 teachers and class teachers. Thank you to parents who came and participated. Writer’s Festival—Community Schools Glenmore Park and Mulgoa Valley schools (seven in all) again combined to develop an opportunity for budding writers to advance their skills. A presentation of their work was held at Glenmore Park High on 29th October. Published historical fiction was presented by our students, Caitlin, Alice, Chad and Rhiannon. Author Jill Bruce spoke and entertained the parents and students. Well done our writers! Glenmore Park Public School Newsletter From the Principal Dear Parents and Friends The last two weeks have been filled with lots of exciting programs from the Mini Fete to welcoming our new Kindergartens. With 92 new Kindergartens for 2014 we are taking the time to ensure they get to know our school this year before they start in 2014. Our second orientation is an afternoon for approximately 50 minutes while their parents have a tour of the school on Wednesday 13th November. Teachers have been busy conducting class assessments for your child’s school report which will be given out at the end of week 10. This year all student Literacy results are currently being tracked from Years K-6 on the new Literacy continuum. This assists teachers in evaluating student progress and programs. Our Year 6 parents, teachers and students need a big applause for the successful Mini Fete for 2013. Once again our Year 6 demonstrated their maturity and resourcefulness. They are currently involved in applying for our Citizenship Prizes for 2013. We look forward to their applications. Sport Uniform Sponsors—Help!

Our school has a number of representative teams seeking sponsors for their sports uniforms. In the past local businesses have helped us and we are again looking for sponsors for soccer, softball and basketball. Your business is able to advertise this way and have regular advertisements in our newsletter. If you wish to help us please contact Mrs Daniel or Mr Arnold.

School Sport Photos—

Thursday 14th November Students are reminded this Thursday all school sport and group photos (Year 6 photo, Captains and Prefects etc) will be taken. Please ensure you bring your sports uniform or jersey.

T-20 BLAST CRICKET MILO CUP

On Monday November 4th, 44 students from Years 3 and 4 travelled to Jamison Park to participate in the annual T-20 Blast Cricket Milo Cup. Glenmore Park Public School sent 4 boys teams and 3 girls teams. Each team played 4 games against other schools, with one of our boy’s teams and one of our girl’s teams remaining undefeated throughout the day. All students had a fantastic day developing their cricket skills and building their team spirit. Well done Glenmore Park on an outstanding day.

FORTNIGHT FACT

EAT MORE FRUIT AND VEGIES

Tempting taste buds Some children dislike vegetables, however they are still

an important food group. Some ideas to tempt reluctant

vegetable eaters include:

Disguising them by blending, mashing and adding

them to soups, stews or sauces.

Offer them raw. Lots of kids prefer crunchy

vegetables rather than cooked ones. Carrots,

cauliflower, beans or broccoli are great eaten raw.

Involve children in preparing or growing vegetables.

This increases their familiarity and willingness to try

new vegetables.

Serve cut up carrots, celery, tomato and cucumber

with salsa, dips, cottage cheese or salad dressing.

Add kidney beans, red lentils, baked beans or

four-bean mix to casseroles, mince or stews.

Mix mashed potatoes with mashed pumpkin or sweet

potato.
