GK Committees

Meet us on Thursday, November 18th to join in the Light the Night Walk, a nationwide fundrais-ing event hosted by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Golden Key will be joining communities across the United States and Canada to bring help and hope to people battling blood cancers.

Funds raised provide: lifesaving blood cancer research, free educational materials and events for patients and their families, local programs such as Family Support Groups and First Connection, a peer-to-peer counseling program, and comprehensive, personalized assistance through LLS's Information Resource Center. Check in will start at 6pm, and the leisurely 2 mile walk starts at 7:30pm. Walkers carry illuminated balloons - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer - forming a community of caring, bringing light to the dark world of cancer. Please register online at: http://pages.lightthenight.org/ncfl/Gainevil10/ufgoldenkey2010 Important Info: Thursday, November 18th; Check-in at 6pm; Walk Time: 7:30 pm Ben Hill Griffin Stadium - N. Lawn University Blvd. & Gale Lemerand Dr. We also ask members to donate at $5 so our team can walk with illu-minated balloons. For each balloon carried a team must raise $100.

Children’s Table Canned Food Golden Key is teaming up with Children’s Table this semester! Mem-bers can donate cans to either Amanda or Josh at the general body meeting, can bring the cans to events, or just drop them off at the GK office on the 3rd floor of the Reitz Union. Children's Table, an organiza-tion that has been providing food to starving children in North Central Florida for the past 24 years, and Golden Key has worked with them through Rock for the Hungry. Members will receive 1 point for every three cans, and can receive up to 10 points. The Canned-Food Drive will be taking place throughout the Fall 2010 semester.
