Geographic Information Systems
Produce information in graphical form for analysis and communicationbut also gives
Tools for systematic numerical and statistical analysis.
Applications: Traffic Analysis

Maintain their health!
Technology
The systems are mature, all the major vendors provide all the necessary functions.
Hardware is standardized and widely available.
Technology is not an issue!
Need for educated staff
Technical systems like Geographic Information systems are only as good as the people operating them.
Invest in educating your staff – it is worth it!
Conclusion
Most of the decision of a city council have spatial aspects.
The Geographic Information System of the city provides the information for the city council to make good, fact based decisions.
A Geographic Information System improves indirectly the life of the citizens.
