Yet, many students think that a career and a job are the same. A career is the pursuit of a lifelong ambition or the general course of progression towards lifelong goals whereas a job is an activity through which an individual performs tasks in exchange for wages. A career provides the backbone of experiences and learning that will fuel one’s professional life for many years. Recognizing this, the Counselling Unit of Vision College launched the Career Readiness Module with aims to prepare our graduates for a successful career. To make this program practicable, the modules will be carried out on several occasions throughout the year to cater for students with varied needs. For first year students, we believe self exploration is important to assist students in self discovery. To achieve this, counsellors will guide and aid students through self assessments, and to consider their interests, values and abilities when choosing their respective career pathways. Year 2 modules are designed to develop the students’ soft skills aimed at ensuring students attain high competency in their future employment. In this module, this includes effective communication skills, presentation skills, time management skills, critical thinking & workplace values. For the final year session, they are aimed at assisting students to communicate effectively and to promote self branding through positive impressions. Aside from personal grooming, students are advised and given tips on resume and cover letter writing as well as job searching. Mock interviews will also be conducted whereby students will then be given feedback on their performances. In conclusion, the career readiness module aims to equip the students with all the essential soft skills necessary to succeed in the workforce today. Carefully developed with the students in mind, we truly believe that this value added service will set our students up for future career excellence. “Dear Sir, I would really love to have this job ...“ “This is how we do it ...“ “Paper phone is going to be the next thing ...“ Can you dodge This? The enduring value of career development rests on certain philosophies of work life and the remainder will be somewhat fundamental towards qualication.

For rst year students, we believe self exploration is important to assist students in self discovery. To achieve this, counsellors will guide and aid students through self assessments, and to consider their interests, values and abilities when choosing their respective career pathways.

Year 2 modules are designed to develop the students’ soft skills aimed at ensuring students attain high competency in their future employment. In this module, this includes eective communication skills, presentation skills, time management skills, critical thinking & workplace values.

For the nal year session, they are aimed at assisting students to communicate eectively and to promote self branding through positive impressions. Aside from personal grooming, students are advised and given tips on resume and cover letter writing as well as job searching. Mock interviews will also be conducted whereby students will then be given feedback on their performances.

Besides being a forum, the event was also an opportunity for several Vision College sta and alumnis to meet up and share stories on their lives and career thus far.

Health TalkOn 20th August, Vision College - in collaboration with Siemens Healthcare - organised a talk on early cancer detection using new technological advancements in ultrasound. Prof. Dr. Dirk André Clevert, from Munich University Hospital, Germany was invited to speak on the various revolutionary ultrasound technologies used to detect early signs of cancer.

ASUM ClinicalSupervisor Forum

Dr. Sue Westerway and Annie Gibbins, the President and Chief Executive Ocer of ASUM respectively, arrived at Vision College on the 7th of August to talk on methods for supervising students in a clinical and examination setting.

There was particular emphasis on developing critical thinking skills in students, using concepts such as “Sandwich” and Reective feedback. These two concepts require lecturers to use certain keywords in their questions to encourage students to think rather than being “spoon-fed” – a culture so rampant in schools and institutions of higher learning these days.

In addition to helping lecturers plan and achieve their set learning outcomes, our distinguished guest speakers also covered areas on students’ dierent learning styles, attributes of a competent lecturer and essential communication skills.

Vision College was honoured to play host to two seminars in August – “The Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) Clinical Supervisor Course” and “What are the new advancements in ultrasound technologies towards early cancer detection?”

Initially, the event was only limited to 50 participants but due to the overwhelming response, there were approximately 80 participants which included doctors, surgeons, radiologists, sonographers and medical imaging students.

The evening ended with all guests mingling and socializing with one another over dinner at our Multipurpose hall.

In addition to introducing the new advancements in ultrasound, Dr. Dirk André explained several real life case studies to accentuate and highlight these breakthroughs. To conclude his talk, Dr. Dirk André believed that there are certainly more boundaries that could be breached in time, which would only benet the entire medical industry.

In summation, both events were very succesful and extremely benecial to their respective attendees. This is only the beginning and Vision College is denitely looking forward to organizing more such events in the future.

On With The Show !

The remaining performances were vocal showcases by both solo and group acts respectively. Renditions such as “Anak Kampung”, “Kau Ilham Ku” and “All Of Me” truly mesmerized the crowd as they cheered, and sang and danced along to every beat. In true Merdeka spirit, all attendees sang Tanggal Tiga Puluh Satu as a mark of patriotism and love for Malaysia. This was followed by the prize giving ceremony where the dance team was announced the winner, ahead of the group trio (Zaki, Franky and Jerey) and The Buddies

To end the day's proceedings, we celebrated Chill-Out Day August 2015 for our August babies with servings of cake and refreshments.

Finally, many thanks to our honorable judges, Ms. Zuraini, Ms. Fione Tan, Ms. Hazwani, Ms. Asyikin and Ms. Zulaikha for taking time o their busy schedule to preside over the judging of this event.

In conjunction with National Day, the DHS club organized the Merdeka Raya – a competition featuring various artistic performances by the students. The event was hosted by the President of DHS Club, Razlan and assisted by Al-Fatin.

The opening act was a poem recital by Fatin Syahirah as she captured the audience with her serene piece. The competition then becamemore upbeat with a dance performance accompanied by the hit song from Akademi Fantasia, “Menuju Puncak”. exhilarated and thrilled, some of the crowd could be seen dancing along to the tune.

who took second and third place respectively. There were also special awards for the Best Male and Female Costume which were won by Wan Amirul and Liliani.

Dodgeball is a relatively new sport in this country and is a game in which players from two teams try to throw the balls at their opponent while evading the incoming balls from the rivals. Generally, the objective of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposing team by hitting them with thrown balls, catching a ball thrown by a member of the opposing team or forcing them to move outside the court boundaries when a ball is thrown at them. It is an exciting and thrilling game suitable for males and females alike.

Vision College held its rst ever Dodgeball championship on a Saturday August morning at the MBPJ Sports Complex. This inaugural event attracted 6 teams (consisting of both male and female members) – namely EVA, Line Up, Mission Impossible, Se7en, Shooting Star & SOL-JER. The competition was played in a league format in which all the teams will played their respective opponents once. A brieng and one round of warm-up was held to familiarize teams with the rules and mechanisms of this sport prior to the commencement of the competition.

The rst match saw team Mission Impossible taking on team EVA – in what proved to mission possible, the former won by a handsome 6-0 scoreline. This turned up to be the only occasion in which one team failed to score in a match. All the subsequent matches were closely-fought aairs – barred two (SOL-JER vs EVA and Se7en vs Shooting Star) ended in 6-1 victories for the former.

In the nal reckoning, the match between SOL-JER and Se7en – which ended all-square at 5-5 - proved to be the decisive match. The competition ended with team SOL-JER crowned as champions with an overall score of 29 points, edging out team Se7en’s 28. Mission Impossible and Line Up were joint-third with 24 points each.
