March - 1967

Herein you will find a more than adequate selection of outstanding Daffodils, as well as Hyacinths, Tulips etc., whatever your needs. Some Daffodils offered in past years are not now available; on the other hand, some not listed in 166 14111 be found here this year.

The Tulip listing, in this catalogue, has been reduced by about hnlf, but the missing varieties (except for a few which are not available this year) will be found in the enclosed 'Special Offer', at special prices, per 100.

The 'Cultural Notes', and some other detailed information included previous- ly, has been omitted; if needed, same care be found by referring to a '66 catalogue, - or if you do not have one, I will send one on request.

TERMS, CONDITIONS of SALE

MINIMUM ORDER, - no less than $3.50

PLEASE, place your order EARLY, . this Spring if at ail possible, thus insuring receipt of the desired varieties at planting time.

If your order is received by MAY 15th., you may have a generous DISCOUNT, in cash or extra bulbs (varieties of your choice). The discount varies with the size of the order; the figures will be found on the Order-sheet which is enclosed, - un- less your order is to be part of a Garden Club order. (The Garden Club receives the discount in this case, using it for some very worthwhile project.)

PRICES quoted are for best quality bulbs, the Daffodils double-nosed, Tulips etc. top-size (there is one larger size of Hyacinths, used for Commercial Forcing.) The Daffodils are priced per bulb, . the others by the dozen; 100 for 7 times the dozen price, - with no further discount.

PAYMENT should be made in full, with your order, - check or money-order, (except Garden Clubs), if you wish to take 'advantageof the discount on early orders. Otherwise, 25% with the order and the balance Sept. 1st., - or on receipt of the bulbs, if you have established credit.

Please add a sufficient amount for postage, according to the following table, to the total of your order, . unless you wish it sent by Express, (P. Post usual, 4 costs less, except for large shipments, going long distances.)

QUANTITY * ZONES 1 & 2

ZONES 3 & 4

ZONES 5 & 6 (to 150 mi.)

(to 600 mi.)

(to 1400 mi.) 1/2 dozen (or less) .30 .35 .45

each addtl. half-dozen .08 .12 .20

* (these figures are for Daffodils and Hyacinths; for Tulips and other mall- er bulbs, allow 1/3 the amount for Daffodils, - .35 minimum.)

If an additional .50 is included for postage, your order will be sent 'Spec- ial Handling', thus insuring that the will be no delay.

DELIVERY : orders to Northern states (except those for Tulips, Hyacinths etc. only, which need not be planted so early) will be sent as early as possible in September. Others in late September or October.

GUARANTEE : every care and precaution is taken to insure all varieties being true to name; should any still prove otherwise, they will be replaced.

Likewise, to the best of my knowledge, only sound healthy bulbs are sent out, - state inspected. No responsibility can be accepted for any possible failure, in the customer's garden (with a very few exceptions), as this would be the result of conditions or circumstances beyond my control.

* * * Royal Horticultural. Society 'CLASSIFIED LIST of DAFFODIL NAMES', giving the

Classification, and originator, of close to 10,000 varieties, - the latest (165) edition, at $1.50 each. I have several of the 1961 edition, just as good where the newest varieties (registered since ,61) are not groman and sewn, at .85 ea.

DAFFODILS

The numbers and letters (2a, 3b etc.) preceding the variety name denote thi ClasP or Division to which that variety belongs, whether it is a Yellow Trumpet Bi-color Large-cup, Triandrus, Double, - or whatever; see the R.H.S. Classifi- cation, on page 15, for explanation of these markings.

Varieties markea with an asterisk (*) are especially recommended for land- scape use, and cutting. They are strong growing and free flowering, and priced so that they may be used in quantity. Varieties with (EX.) before the descrip- tion are Exhibition varieties, which if well grown, and given a little special care and protection, should win some Blue Ribbons for you, at your Daffodil or Spring Flower Shows. (many other varieties, not so designated, are also often Iwinners1.)

The (abbreviated) names in parentheses, following the variety name, arc those of the originators. The letters following these give the relative approx- imate blooming season of the variety : EE - extra early; EM - early mid-season; - mid-season; LM - late nid.season; L . late; LL - very late.

Prices are per single bulb, - with 12 for the price of 10, and 6 or 3 at this same rate (6 for the price of 5, and 3 for 2 1/2 times the each price.)EAc 9 *ACTAEA (Lubbe)(LM)(EX) large outstanding Poeticus .25 3b ACCOLADE (Rich.) n) pure white & intense solid red 1.20 2a *ADVENTURE (Chapman)(EM) all yellow; large crown, long stem .25 3b AlRCASTLE (atsch)(LM)(EX) greenish beige; apricot-lemon crown 2.50 2a AIR MARSHALL (Rich.)(LM)(EX) intense golden yellow & orate-red .35 2b ALDERGROVE (Dun.)00(EX) outstanding Bi-color, fine form 2.10 3b ALEPPO (Brodie (I white, with flat red-rinmed crown .35 lb ALL GLORY (U.de Boog.)(M) nice Bi-color, white & clear yellow .6o lo ALYCIDON (Rich.)(M)(EX) uniform milk-white 1.00 2a AMBERLY (Stern) M) smooth clear golden yellow .50 I o ANDES (Rich.)(EM)(EX) fine large pure white flower 1.00 2b ANN ABBOTT (Johnstone)(LM) attractive and appealing 'pink! .75 3a APRICOT DISTINCTION (van Deursen)(M) pale apricot; orange-red cup .65
