1. Which two dates mark the beginning and the end of the Middle Ages?

2. The Middles Ages is a period characterised by the fragmentation of the

Mediterranean Sea around the different civilizations: Christianity, Islam and the

Byzantine Empire. Colour and locate these civilizations on the map and point some

of their most important cities: Córdoba, Oviedo, Aachen, Rome, Constantinople,

Damascus, Baghdad, Mecca.

3. Describe in no less than 10 lines the most remarkable facts of the biography of

the following characters:

Muhammad; Charlemagne; Abd-al-Rahman III

4. Answer the following questions about the Germanic peoples:

a) Where did they come from?

b) Why did they move southwards from central Europe?

c) Which were the main Germanic kingdoms?

d) Who were the Visigoths?

5. Link Islam, Christianity and the Byzantine Empire to the following artworks.
