• Mt. 9:17, Mk. 2:22, Lk. 5:37-39

• Jesus has just asked Levi (Matthew) to follow him.

• Levi held a banquet for Jesus : tax-collectors & others ate with them.

• Some Scribes and Pharisees present abstained from eating and rebuked them for their participation

Luke 5:30-3230 And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

BUT..."Your disciples do not fast"

What do you think the Pharisees are trying to say?

Everyone who is spiritually minded is fasting, so why aren’t yours Jesus?

Luke 5:36-37(NKJV)

36 Then He spoke a parable to them: “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old one; otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was taken out of the new does not match the old. 

37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. 

Luke 5:38-39 (NKJV)

38But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. 39And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.’”

Neither is new wine put in old wineskins; for if it is, the skins burst and are torn in pieces, and the wine is spilled and the skins are ruined. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved. – Matthew 9:17

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the bottles destroyed; but new wine is to be put in new (fresh) wineskins. – Mark 2:22
