    6. Please choose destination folder.

    7. Setup Type

    Recommendation: Select CUSTOM INS-

    TALL.

    Note: After first time installation of Manual

    Guide i Simulator for PC the CNC selection

    can be modified. It is possible to add CNC

    types or to change CNC types.

    8. If you have selected CUSTOM INSTALL

    the Select Components window pops

    up:

    EXE files have always to be selected.

    Please select one of the CNC types:

    MB = Milling

    TB = Turning

    Recommendation: In the beginning select

    only one Milling CNC and/or one Turning

    CNC.

    Depending on display resolution of your PC,

    select Series CNC-type or Series CNC-

    type (no MDI Keys).

    For display resolution XGA (1024 x 768) se-

    lect CNC-type (no MDI Keys)!

    The USB protection key delivered with the software package needs to be attached to one USB port of

    the PC. The software will not run without detecting the key.

    WindowsExplorer

    Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder where Manual Guide i Simulator for PC resides, and

    double click the MgiManager.exe, or highlight the icon and press .

    StartMenu

    1. On the Windows taskbar click the start button.

    2. From the start menu choose programs > FANUC > Manual Guide iSimulator.

    Desktop

    Create a short-cut to MGiSimulator and start directly from your PC desktop.

    After start of Manual Guide iSimulator for PC:

    1. The Selection Machine Type window pops

    up.

    2. A CNC-type can be selected and started depending on Series CNC-type selected dur-

    ing installation or modification.

    3. Selected CNC-type will start up.

    4. Select first Edit-Mode or Auto-Mode.

    5. The CNC-types are pre-set by FANUC

    To exit the program click the power off but-

    ton [O] on the operation panel.

    Manual Guide i Simulator for PC installed on

    your PC can be modified. It is possible to re-

    move and/or add CNC-types.

    1. Start modification from CD:

    Insert CD Manual Guide iSimulator for PC

    in your CD-ROM drive.

    Select Setup and double click.

    2. The InstallShield Wizard starts.

    Select Modify and click Next.

    3. The Select Components window pops up.

    Do CNC-type selection.

    Sample:Add Series 16i-TB.

    Click Next after selection.

    Attention: Never deselect EXE files!

    4. To end modification, click Finish.

    5. After starting Manual Guide i Simulator

    again, modification result is displayed in

    Selection Machine Type window.

    Sample:Series 18i-TB (with MDI) is added.

    During installation of Manual Guide iSimulator

    a folder for data-exchange, the memcard- fol-

    der, is created.

    The memcard - folder could be found in fol-

    der: ...\FANUC\MgiWin\memcard

    MemCard Folder

    This folder could be used for: CNC Program interchange with the CNC control

    Fixform data interchange

    Tool data interchange

    and for CNC parameter modifications (see chapter: Customisation of Manual Guide i for PC)

    Recommendation:If more than one simulated CNC-type is installed on your PC:

    Best to use this folder like a memcard.

    After data interchange with a simulated CNC-type, delete all files in memcard - folder, except

    From.dat.

    Attention: Never delete From.dat file

    Customisation of Manual Guide ifor PC

    Manual Guide iSimulator for PC is delivered with a parameter setting and sample programs.

    The following description is just written for your convenience to understand how to edit and change

    parameters.

    For Manual Guide i parameter descriptions please refer to FANUC Manual Guide i Operators

    Manual (B-63874).

    Standard Parameters

    Standard parameters are prepared in the folder .../STANDARD_PARA of the CD-ROM. All files are txt-

    files and can be read and modified with text editor software, e.g. Microsoft wordpad:

    1. 16M_CNC

    Series 16i/18i/21i)

    2. 16T_CNC-PARA.TXT

    (Standard parameter for turning system

    Series 16i/18i/21i)

    3. 30M_CNC-PARA.TXT

    Series 30i/31i/32i)

    4. 30T_CNC_PARA.TXT

    (Standard parameter for turning system

    Series 30i/31i/32i).Method of Loading the Parameter

    Manual Guide i Simulator can read from the memory card drive folder after a standard parameter is

    edited, and change the setting of the Manual Guide ifunction.

    The method is explained using the following example of changing the language of Manual Guide i

    Simulator.

    Sample: Change Language for Series 16i-TB

    Language parameter is 14712 referring to

    Manual Guide iOperators Manual (B-63874)

    1. Select file 16T_CNC-PARA.TXT from

    Manual Guide i Simulator CD: ...\standard_

    para\..

    2. Copy file to folder ...\FANUC\MgiWin\mem-

    card.

    3. Rename the file to CNC-PARA.TXT.

    4. Open file with text editor (e.g.: MS Word-

    pad).

    5. Search for parameter 14712.

    6. Change parameter 14712 to 3

    Note: 3 = German

    7. Close CNC_Para.TXT

    8. Start Manual Guide iSimulator.

    9. Select the machine type you want to read

    the parameter and start.

    Attention: Parameter text file and

    selected CNC-type must fit together.

    For this sample please select Serie

    16i-T or Serie 18i-T or Serie 21i-T.

    11. Parameter loading now is displayed onManual Guide iSimulator screen.

    12. If Succeeded in loading the parameter is

    displayed, restart Manual Guide i Simula-

    tor.

    13. In this sample: Language now is set to Ger-man.

    Parameters for GE Fanuc Training Book Examples

    To program examples of GE Fanuc Training Book Turning Made Easy (GFTE-589-EN) the following

    parameters need to be changed:

    1. G-Code System B/C (only for Turning) (Parameter Manual B-63530)
