OBJECTIVETo highlight key information for candidates to
be familiar with the procedure of the GCE O
Science Practical Exam.
NOTE:
1. Candidates are expected to read the Instructions to Candidates
booklet before the National Examination.

Schedules and Seating Arrangement
•All students must take note of the correct reporting
time and seating arrangement.
• Initiate a buddy system to remind one another of the
reporting time to the Reporting Room.
•Clarify all queries with your Science teachers before
the exam.
You are NOT allowed to use correction tape
during the examination.

Phone and electronic devices, including but not
limited to:
• Concealed communication devices
• Miniature wireless receiver
• Pen set(s) with built in earpiece and wireless
communication function
• Smart Watch and fitness trackers
• Smart Glasses
• References materials eg notes, Periodic
Tables, books
TO AVOID MALPRACTICE
Do not leave the reporting room (Design Studio) and quarantine room (AVA) without permission.
IN AN EVENT OF MALPRACTICE
If candidate is suspected to have committed malpractice,
• Unauthorised materials (mobile phones, electronic devicesetc) will be confiscated.
• Irregularity report will be submitted.
• Candidate and Exam personnel in-concern must write their individual statements to be submitted to SEAB.
Absentees•Your MC must be accompanied with a Doctor’s DIAGNOSIS
or Medical Memo/Report that states your medical condition.
MCs with NO DIAGNOSIS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!
Candidates must submit your MC with Diagnosis to the Presiding Examiner within 2 days of the examination.
Seeking assistance• Students can seek assistance from the Subject Supervisor on duty
for the following reasons:> special assistance cases (AA)> colour deficiency (AA)> check for faulty apparatus> unable to proceed with work (really need help!)
• All assistance rendered will be reported to SEAB.• Safety must be observed at all times.
Before going to the Reporting Room
• Check that you have your Entry Proof and NRIC/passport/EZlink card (Identification documents) and the relevant stationery.
• Girls with long hair must make sure your hair is tied up in a bun.
• You should visit the toilet before entering the reporting room.
Before going to the Reporting Room
*If you did not bring your Identification documents, inform your FT immediately before 730am.
In the Reporting Room
• Surrender your communication devices (handphones) to the Liaison Officers.
• You are ONLY allowed to take out your revision notes to revise.
• Keep the revision notes and take out all materials needed for exams before proceeding to the Science Labs.
Do NOT
• start writing until you are told to do so;
• continue to write after the stop writing announcement

In the laboratory
Place your Entry
Proof, NRIC or
foreign identification
documents on your
desk throughout the
examination.
Do NOT communicate with other candidates
inside or outside the examination venue during
the examination.
Do NOT commit or attempt to commit any
acts of dishonesty.

answer booklets and writing papers should NOT
be removed from the examination venue.

USE OF CALCULATORS
IN EXAMINATIONS

Refer to SEAB website for
the list of approved
calculators.
Use of unapproved
calculators will be treated
as a breach of
examination regulations.
CALCULATORS
Ensure that your calculator is in good
working condition. You are
encouraged to bring an additional
calculator or spare batteries.
Any enclosed instruction leaflets that
come with the calculator must NOT
be brought into the examination hall.

You are NOT allowed to borrow calculators
during the examination.

If you breach any examination rules and
regulations, you may be:
a) prohibited from taking the examination;
b) expelled from the examination room;
c) refused entry for subsequent papers;
d) have your results annulled or a grade
penalty; and/or
e) banned from registering for national
examinations in future years.
Quarantine Room (A.V.A)• Quarantine will be in the AVA.
• You are NOT allowed to leave the AVA without permission
from the teachers on duty.
• You MUST be accompanied by a teacher if you leave the AVA.
• Quarantine periods can be as long as 3-4 hours until:
> 12.30 pm for Pure Sciences
> 1.30 pm for Sci (Phy/Chem) & Sci (Chem/Bio)
Quarantine Room (A.V.A)
• You are advised to
> have a heavy breakfast
> bring your own school work to revise
> bring dried food such as bread, biscuits, sandwiches if you
want to eat during the quarantine period.
•NO selling of food.
Quarantine Room (AVA)• Place your bags at designated areas in the Quarantine Room as
instructed by the Liaison Officers.
• You are only allowed to take out your revision notes to revise or practise TYS.
• You are only allowed to collect your bag and your communication devices (handphones) at the end of the quarantine period.
IMPT: Your bag should NOT be with you at all times in the Quarantine Room.
WHAT TO DO DURING AN
UNEXPECTED SITUATION

• If you have contracted a contagious
disease just before or during the
examination period, please see a
qualified medical practitioner and
inform the school.
• If you are hospitalised, please inform
the school.
You may apply for Special considerations, provided that:
• You have sat for at least 50% of the total assessment
of the affected subject, and
• You have the relevant supporting documents to
support your application (e.g. medical
report/statement from a qualified medical practitioner)
to certify that you are unfit for the examination.

Contracting contagious disease(s) just before or during the examination period; hospitalisation

Reminders• Check information on your shift, reporting time and venue and
seating arrangement.
• Bring Entry Proof and NRIC/ Passport / EZlink student pass.
• Plan your route and journey time so that you will be able to
report to your examination centre at least 30 minutes in
advance, before the reporting time
• Report on time and BE PUNCTUAL.
• Wear FULL school uniform.
Reminders• Bring your own stationery.
Include approved calculator, flexible rule, 30 cm ruler, sharp pencil (extra) and blue/black pen.
• If you have to be quarantined after the practical, bring extra revision
work to do for at least 2 – 4 hours to prepare for your O Level Exam.
