Gazzotti and design
Today’s world is engaging, fast-paced and irresistible. But it is so dynamic that humanity sometimes loses touch with its origins, with reality and with nature. When we talk about nature, the mind naturally conjures up water, air and earth, the three concepts that underpin life. Trees undoubtedly revolve around these three fundamental notions. Our raw material, wood, is unique and inimitable, because, in addition to being a versatile and renewable product, it provides us with continuous contact with nature. Sustainably managed forests play an important part in maintaining a well-balanced and clean environment, because they regulate the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, storing carbon taken from the atmosphere within wooden items, and releasing oxygen. Gazzotti only uses raw materials from properly managed forests.
Gazzotti and the enviroment
Gazzotti is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) ‘chain of custody’ certified. This guarantees that material comes from sustainably managed forests, wherever possible.
PEFC (the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) indicates that Gazzottimanages the chain of custody and promotes sustainable forest management .

- Matching accessories: skirting boards, stair profiles and thresholds.- The material is supplied in assorted lengths, depending on availability. Up to 5% may be in lengths of less than those stated above, to be cut to fill gaps between the laid parquet
and the wall. Orders of strips of equal length are subject to a 10% increase in the price listed.- All products, except for Oak, Rosewood and Zebrano are dyed appropriately on the upper surface. Different grains absorb varying levels of the dye, creating a varied appearance.
These contrasts create a product with unique features. The person laying the floor should bear this in mind, ensuring the best possible distribution of the strips for the optimum aesthetic result.
- Glitter, Night, Rosewood and Zebrano have a high gloss finish; Silver has a metallic finish.* Rosewood and Zebrano are made using composite woods to obtain the best possible colour results, using cutting-edge technology. In accordance with
standard EN 13756 they can be defined as wooden floors.

Since wood is a natural material, differences in colour and grain exist which means that all strips will have dissimilarities. Wood is furthermore a product that changes according to the visual angle. Stained products can present different colour tones due to different absorption of the pigment. Furthermore, the floor can look quite different to samples when supplied, since once exposed to sunlight, wood, if not stained, generally tends to assume a darker, more uniform appearance. Therefore, samples and pictures are to be considered purely indicative and not binding.

KING: It is characterized by mixed veining with both straight and wavy grain that allows an eye-catching natural play of colours. Depending on the wood species, it may be split into several different shades in order to provide the currently-favored natural look, whilst guaranteeing a harmonious arrangement of colour. According to the natural characteristics of the wood species, there may be a limited number of small knots, but in any event standards are respected. (Reference standard Ο)
COMMERCIALE: This grade produces a floor with a genuine, natural and extremely eye-catching appearance as a result of the strong contrasts of colour. Knots, mineral strains, traces of sap and small splits may be present according to the natural characteristics of the wood species. (Reference standard ∆)

Information on wood species• As wood is a natural material, colour and grain differences mean that no two elements are identical. Since wood is also variegated, its appearance changes according to the visual angle. Samples and photographs are therefore intended as indications and nonbinding examples only. When supplied, the flooring can also appear quite different to the samples, since once nonpigmented wood is exposed to the light, it generally tends to darken and become more uniform in appearance.• In the case of Doussiè, when the wood comes into contact with the light, considerablecolour differences may appear in elements that were originally identical.• When laid, Teak presents veining and natural ring marks that tend to disappear oncontact with the light.• Certain wood species, mainly Iroko, Doussiè, Wengè, may contain mineral concretionswith shades that range from white to lemon yellow that tend to become more evidentduring oxidation of the wood.• In certain wood species, particularly Oak and Beech, some elements may have shinierstreaks known as “mirroring”.• The Ash Thermic, Birch Thermic and Oak Thermic products are made with a specialthermic treatment on the entire top layer.• Doussiè, Iroko, Teak Asia, Birch Thermic, Ash Thermic and Oak Thermic are the mostsuitable wood species for use in kitchens, bathrooms and with underfloor heatingsystems.• All the wood species used by Gazzotti are sufficiently hard to guarantee the requiredperformance. This said, the floor can be marked by blows or falling objects, theapplication of loads concentrated on small surfaces, such as stiletto heels, ladders, etc.,or small objects such as tacks or stones embedded in the soles of shoes. The surfacefinish has protective properties but is unable to prevent the above-mentioned damage.
Information on Gazzotti wood floor• Some products are brushed to give the effect of natural surface wear to enhance the personalization of the product countered with the perfection of current production techniques.• The products are made from oak with a pigmented surface. The shades may vary due to the different reactions of the wood type extracts and the different degree of absorption of the
wood. The grain may also allow more or less absorption of the pigment, producing different shades. The layer should take these contrasts into consideration during laying to ensure correct distribution of the strips and the best visual result.
• All the products undergo special ecological varnishing treatment which provides maximum protection of the working environment and the surrounding space. In the Extraresistent collection the finish also guarantees a high degree of resistance to surface scratching. In the Vintage and My Vintage collections, the highly technological finish permits an oiled effect with easy maintenance.
• During laying operations, any excess glue should be removed before it dries, using a clean cloth without alcohol or solvents.• Any damaged strips can be replaced: it is advisable to keep an adequate reserve supply of the batch used. When replaced, the new strip will look a different colour, but when exposed
to the light it will gradually adapt to the same colour as the others.
Information on laying Gazzotti wood floors• Products must be stored in a dry place with their packaging intact. Packaging must only be removed at the time of laying, which must be carried out after door and window
frames have been installed and wall plaster is completely dry.• At the time of laying, environmental humidity must be between 45% and 60% and the temperature no lower than 10°C.• All the products must be glued down on foundations or on existing floorings as long as they are compact and suitable. Plancia 10, Tavola 10, Trio 10, Planche, Grande Planche and
XX Large products can be installed both glued down and floating. The glue must be spread correctly on the flooring foundation, not on the sides and heads of the product.• The moisture content of the concrete must not exceed 2% in weight for normal or quick-drying cement foundations, 1.7% in case of underfl oor heating systems and 0.5% for
anhydrite foundations. The humidity must be checked using a carbide hygrometer immediately prior to laying.• Make sure that suitable wood species are used when laying in kitchens, bathrooms and with underfloor heating systems.• When laying on underfloor heating systems, make sure that they comply with regulations, that the heating elements are covered by at least 3 cm of foundation, that the
maximum temperature of the surface on which the product is laid is 28°C and that the heating is started up gradually according to the indications foreseen for laying parquet.• In the event of evident visible defects, complaints of any type will not be accepted if the product has already been laid. The use or transfer of the material
by the purchaser constitutes acceptance of the goods and recognition that they conform to those ordered, with consequent waiver of the right to lodge complaints. If any defects become evident during laying, the purchaser should discontinue the operation and report the defect within 8 days. Failure to respect this term will lead to the guarantee being rendered void.
Caring for Gazzotti wood floor• After laying, suitable climatic conditions must be maintained. Air humidity outside the 45% - 60% range may lead to the appearance of gaps between the strips, and to swelling
or microfractures. It is therefore indispensable to ensure that the right climatic conditions are maintained even in unused rooms.• Damp rising from the flooring foundation or flooding can cause irreversible damage to wooden flooring.• Colour differences caused by the presence of rugs or other objects tend to disappear when the flooring is exposed to the light.• Alcohol, solvents, acids and ammonia can cause irreparable damage to the finish. Daily maintenance merely consists of wiping the floor with a well wrung out damp cloth using
just water or, when necessary, water and a suitable neutral detergent. For maintenance details see the product sheet.• For the maintenance of all the pre-sanded products, refer to the instructions of the finish manufacturers.
Information on fire resistance• All products of Extraresistent collection (except for Birch Thermic and Ash Thermic), Smile (X Large 10 except for Quercia Thermo) are certified in Class B (EN 14342) fire reaction.
Laying must be made on non-flammable underfloor and with Gazzotti EG ECO glue. Please specify requirements for fire reaction at the moment of order.
NOTE: for more detailed information consult Gazzotti General Catalogue and specific product sheet for each product.
