LOOKING FORWARD, I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO STAY POSITIVE AS THE COUNTRY BEGINS IT’S FIRST STEPS IN OPENING ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC. I AM ANTICIPATING THAT WE WILL HAVE A GREAT SHOW THIS FALL IN SAVANNAH. I AM EXCITED TO SEE EVERYONE THERE AND

WE ARE ANTICIPATING A GREAT TURNOUT. I CHALLENGE THOSE OF YOU WHO MAY NOT BE VERY ACTIVE IN OUR ORGANIZATION TO GET MORE INVOLVED. NOW, MORE THAN EVER WE ARE SEEING THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR ASSOCIATION. WE HAVE A GREAT INDUSTRY AND IT IS UP TO ALL OF US TO PROTECT AND STRENGTHEN IT FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS. MY FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES: STAY STRONG, SAFE AND POSITIVE. Many meetings and conventions have been canceled this year due to COVID-19 but the 2020 Annual GAGwP Well Show and Trade Exhibition is still scheduled to be held Sept. 24-26 in Savannah, GA at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront Hotel. The SAWDJ Jubilee was canceled due to the convention center and city regulation problems. Savannah and Georgia do not have these problems and we still plan to have our Well Show. In fact, we think it will be the biggest EVER because so many other shows have been canceled. However, if something happens and things change, you will be notified in plenty of time. As always there will be the exciting speakers and learning opportunities. Come see that latest in supplies, services and equipment from vendors and see old friends!

Friday Night Reception The Friday night reception is always enjoyed by drillers and their families before enjoying a night out in Savannah. Hotel Reservations To make your Hotel room reservation online, please call 912-233-7722 or 800-285-0398. Tell them you are with the GAGwP group. Savannah Marriott Riverfront for $175.00 per night You must make your reservation before August 15th. The room block fills up early so make your reservation as soon as possible. Golf Tournament The Friday Morning Golf Tournament was a major success last year so make plans to play this year. Scholarships The deadline for the GAGwP Scholarships has passed but if you get the application in before Sept. 1,

we will be able to accept and consider it. For an application go to the website at www.georgiadrillers.com and click on “Scholarship”.









Destiny! Often when something goes wrong or an accident

occurs, we question the chain of events that led up to a particular tragedy. It usually entails a series of unrelated events, any one of which could have stopped the event completely.

What if I left the house one minute earlier or later? What if I had not stopped for coffee or if I had driven 5 mph slower, the accident would have never happened.

I would like to share a story with just the opposite ending.

A very good friend of mine asked me about a problem he was having with his deep well. Every morning when he got up to shave or brush his teeth, he would open his sink faucet and get a blast of high pressure air with a face splash. Not a nice way to start your day!

His house was a bit out of the way, and since he had water, I told him I would get by to take a look on my next trip to the area. I really didn't think about it again until a week or so passed. While finishing a well on the west side of Savannah, I remembered my conversation and called him. "I'm in the area and can come by to see you," I said. He replied " Don't worry about it, it's 6:00 and it can wait." I insisted that now was good and I would be there shortly.

Upon arrival I found him enjoying a beer with his two sons, his wife and daughter in law preparing supper and grandchildren playing in the yard. A Norman Rockwell scene for sure.

We immediately walked to the pump to inspect the installation. As some of you have already surmised, the issue was an installation error. The well had been piped into a tee before entering the tank, so the air that was supposed to go into the tank was diverted first into his house.

I asked him who installed the pump and he proudly stated he and his brother had moved the tank during the remodeling. At least it wasn't the well driller! "Well this is an installation problem, how long has this been going on?" I asked.

He said, "About 17 years."

"What?" I exclaimed, "Why did you just call me now?" and he replied that it finally just pissed him off. I then told him how to correct the problem, so that he could shave while not getting showered. So all is well, right?

We sat down in his garage to chat about his car. He got rather quiet and I asked, "Are you feeling OK?" He didn't reply. Suddenly he leaned against his son and collapsed to the floor. Panic ensued as the family realized he had suffered a serious sudden attack. The wife called 911 immediately.

As a volunteer firefighter I had CPR training and started checking for vital signs. No pulse, no breathing, face ashen, eyes rolled up and unresponsive.

I felt as though I had just lost a wonderful friend. I started CPR, and chest compressions within 30

seconds. I instructed his son to begin mouth to mouth resuscitation when instructed.

It's very stressful doing this to a stranger, but many times more with a friend or family member. My mind

raced through how everyone's life had just changed so dramatically. As I kneeled beside him, his hand suddenly reached up and grabbed my hand. His eyes focused and the color returned to his face. He was alive again! He asked me, "What happened?" I said, "You died, don't do that again!" EMTs arrived and carried

him to the hospital. He was released six days later with no side effects.

Realize the change of events that had led me to be there at the precise moment I was needed to save his life. Anyone of these being interrupted and he would not be with us today. And all because after 17 years he got fed up with being splashed in the face with his morning shave. Then I insisted in being there that evening in spite of his objections.

Who couldn't believe in Divine Intervention to keep this fine family whole.

There is NO CHARGE FOR Association MEMBERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND EMPLOYEES, IF you register in advance by Aug. 15. We must in fairness to our members and exhibiting suppliers, charge a registration fee to non-member drillers who attend the seminars and those suppliers, manufacturers, and manufacturer’s representatives who are not exhibiting. We must charge Drillers who are Not Members of GAGwP if they wish to attend the continuing education seminars. Family and employees of non-member drillers registered for the conference are still welcome in the trade show exhibits at no charge. Please understand that the dues to GAGwP, as well as the exhibitor registration fees, help underwrite the cost of the Well Show which includes the meeting room charges, speakers’ expenses, audio/visual equipment, printing, postage, mailing, etc! It would be unfair to our members for their dues to subsidize the costs for non-members who do not pay dues.
