WATCH THIS SPACE: In the second week of Term 2 we will be having our Anzac Day Service at the school.

We wish to invite community members to commemorate this special day with the school staff and students.

Date and time are to be confirmed.

What are you good at? What are your strengths? The second topic for Respectful Relation-ships is ‘Personal Strengths’. It’s im-portant for all of us to recognise what we are good at and those things which chal-lenge us. A ‘strengths-based approach’ is one way in which we can tackle difficult moments in our lives. When working through a problem it is always useful to work from what we are good at and use our strengths to find a way through.

FOOD TECH: Our Year 11 Food Tech boys were enthralled with the making of the crusty mixed seed loaves they cooked during the week, as they continue their unit looking at ancient & less processed grains. The girls baked the same loaves on Thursday and Mrs Patching arrived in the Home Eco room at just the right time to test the bread with jam and cream. Yum!

The weather was quite warm for the 2017 Inter House Biathlon on Wednesday as Olympic, with a win already under their belt, took on Insignia. Thank You to those students who brought notes explaining why they could not compete on the day. The distances are achievable by all students if they are willing to accept the challenge. For those participating, it was fantastic to see many of the students competing with endeavour and enthusiasm. There were some students however, who could not say they gave the event their best and conse-quently let down other members of their house. Well done to students acting responsibly, looking after themselves and each other prior to and after their events. A special congratulations to the Year 7’s who accepted the challenge and participated in their first Biathlon and the Year 12’s who participated in their last School Biathlon.

Congratulations to Olympic 552 who defeated Insignia 453.

Well done to the students - who were unable to participate in an individual events, but supported their house by competing in a relay. Congratulations to Bradley Marks & Beata Nikolovski who won the Team event.

Thank you to

• Mr. Amos for setting up and packing up the barriers which block off the roads, providing a safe course for our students.

• MRCC for providing the barriers and allowing us to block off the roads around the pool to ensure the safety of our students.

• the staff for their assistance and support on such a demanding and time consuming activity. Your work was greatly appreciated.

• Pool staff for the assistance at the pool.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION: Condolences – we extend sympathy to Mrs. Narelle Latta and family on the passing of her father, Russell Stone – one of life’s true gentlemen, and a good supporter of this school over many years. Annual General Meeting –Thank you to the parents who attended or sent apologies to our PA AGM on Tues-day. We reflected on 2016 and noted what the highs were, and where and how we can improve. As the people primari-ly responsible for our children’s welfare, education and personal growth, it is imperative that we pick up on the partnership with the school that our parenthood requires of us and give the best support we can. Participating in Parents Association is one way of building that home/ school partnership. Parents are invited to become mem-bers and receive minutes of meetings. Membership form next week. $5/ family unit. We have all positions but one filled. It might seem scary but it’s not too onerous. This is now in full operation. ◊ A shadow board erected in the storage shed, with final arrangements being made to ensure all tools are

housed. ◊ The Food Technology students have used a number of fresh ingredients from The Patch in their dishes. ◊ Students are continuing to establish individual gardens to produce fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and

flowers. Further to this, a math problem-solving box is now in use; Mathletics is up and running; the new I-pads are being set up; solid music stands, Ag/Hort magazine subscriptions, and the cost of a cyber safety course for Year 5 have all been approved; and a parent session around strategies connected to bullying issues is in the pipe-line .
