1. San Francisco Bay Area is focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and forward-looking change2. Students have access to a wide variety of industries: VC, technology, biotech, finance, consulting, CPG/retail, healthcare, entrepreneurship, etc. 3. Opportunity to build your network and to create job opportunities through class projects with companies. Class Project Examples: Marketing/CPG: Pricing Policy Class - Students worked with LaLoo's Goat Milk Ice Cream Company, a Sonoma County, California based company, to see if they needed to lower prices to generate more sales. After conducting surveys and testing prices at different stores, Berkeley MBA students found limited brand awareness (not price) was to blame for slow sales. LaLoo decided not to lower prices Alternative Energy: Technology, Innovation and Leadership (MOT course) FTMBA students will focus on implementing a network for electric automobiles in the Bay Area. Working with Palo Alto-based Better Place on a live case project. Better Place is working to replace gasoline-based transportation with an electric re-charge network. Student teams explored how an electric car paradigm will develop. The Bay Area, along with Israel, Denmark, Australia, and Hawaii, have committed to deploying such networks. 4. Access to key executives for involvement at various student-run competitions, conferences, and events . Examples: Berkeley Business Plan competition: Great chance to build relationships with venture capital firms.
