FUELCO BULK LUBRICANT STORAGE FACILITY

Fuelco was instrumental in the design, manufacture and installation of a bulk lubricant storage facility for a MOC operating in Australia. The purpose of the facility is to store lubricant products for supply to mining and industrial customers across Queensland.

PROJECT

Design and construct a complete, bulk lubricant storage facility, including unloading and dispensing systems, for the storage and dispensing of sixteen different lubricant products to supply mining and industrial customers across Queensland Australia.

SCOPE

As part of the scope, Fuelco submitted comprehensive designs for review prior to manufacture, procurement and installation. These included calculations, P&IDs, drawings of the facility including intended pipework routes, equipment selections, shop drawings and installation instructions.

DESIGN

As a requirement, Fuelco performed a Safety in Design Risk Assessment and fulfilled all obligations under the relevant Health & Safety Acts and Regulations. Fuelco also communicated with third parties and other contractors to ensure the work was coordinated and performed safely.

SAFETY

This project involved providing documentation including comprehensive drawings, relevant certificates including calibration certificates, sub-vendor list, spare parts list, operation and maintenance manuals for all equipment supplied, as well as quality control documentation.

Fuelco supplied dedicated unloading pumps with 4” stainless steel fill lines for each lubricant product; 16 in total. These were connected an overfill protection system to control pumps and valves for immediate and automatic shutdown of product flow during tank fill.

TANKER UNLOADING Fuelco provided a fully integrated dispensing system for this project including pumps, flow meters, filtration and batch controller. This system included purpose built dispensing skids, electronic tank gauging with integrated overfill protection system to fill tankers. 5


Fuelco supplied 43 x Logitank LSB110 self bunded tanks, totalling 4.7 million litres of storage for 16 lubricant products including motor, hydraulic and transmission oils. Tanks were painted internally with an epoxy coating and fitted with product heaters and agitators to ensure quality of product.

Fuelco delivered this project in a short period of time, with only minor design changes, as requested by the customer. Overall, the customer was impressed with the facility and Fuelco’s ability to complete the works in such a short time frame.

Fuelco staff remained on-site after handover to ensure the equipment supplied, and the entire facility, was operating to customer expectations. This was deemed necessary to ensure the customer was completely satisfied with the services and equipment supplied by Fuelco.
