Vauxhall Fleet Press Releases – July 2016Vauxhall outperforms premium rivals for vehicle dependability
Vauxhall has performed very strongly in the second annual JD Power survey for vehicle dependability,
achieving fourth overall in the manufacturer rankings. Moving up from ninth in last year’s inaugural survey,
Vauxhall outperformed all premium rivals including Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar.
Recording a range average of 90 problems per 100 vehicles (pp100), considerably better than the industry
average of 113, Vauxhall models also performed well across individual classes. Most notably, the Vauxhall
Insignia topped the mid-size class, while the Corsa and Mokka models came third in the small and compact
SUV classes respectively.
The Vauxhall Insignia outperformed its closest rival by 16 pp100 vehicles, and was stronger than the class
average to the value of a staggering 46 pp100. On average the small category achieved among the best
results, with the Vauxhall Corsa ranking third, 15 pp100 ahead of the class average. In the rapidly-growing
compact SUV class, the Vauxhall Mokka also achieved third. With a notable score of only 65 problems per
100 vehicles, the Mokka was an impressive 45 pp100 ahead of the class average.

Vauxhall Fleet Press Releases – July 2016Vauxhall introduces full LED adaptive lighting to New Zafira Tourer and Mokka X models
Vauxhall is introducing Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL) and full LED headlamps to its new Zafira Tourer and
Mokka X models.
The optional AFL LED headlamps produce a bright white light that automatically adapts to the driving
situation, with nine individual functions that both optimise visibility and save energy.
“The widespread availability of intelligent LED technology is the best way to significantly reduce the risks of
night-time driving,” said Brit Mark Adams, Vice President, Design Europe. “The new Vauxhall Zafira Tourer
and Mokka X with their optional AFL LED headlamps are important steps towards realising this potential.”
Vauxhall recognised the risks of night-time driving a number of years ago. It was the first manufacturer to
bring AFL with bi-xenon headlamps to the compact market in 2003, and the Vauxhall Astra was the first
compact car with cornering lights in 2004, followed by the Zafira in 2005. Embracing its tradition of making
innovative technology features available across the product range, Vauxhall introduced halogen headlamp-
based AFL in the Corsa in 2006.

Vauxhall Fleet Press Releases – July 2016Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer named ‘Best Estate Car’ at Telegraph cars awards
Vauxhall’s all-new Astra has claimed another accolade, with the Sports Tourer model being named as Best
Estate Car at the 2016 Telegraph Cars Awards.
The award recognises the Astra Sports Tourer as the best estate car driven by the Telegraph’s experienced
road test team in the last year, following extensive testing of all new cars on the market. Built at Ellesmere
Port in the UK, the Sports Tourer model provides more internal storage than its predecessor, while
maintaining the athletic exterior design of its hatchback equivalent.
Of the model, the judges said: “The new Astra is at its best in estate guise, which gives a useful boost in boot
space to go with its other winning attributes.” Although it was not just the convenience that impressed, with
the judges adding: “The engine range is one of the strongest out there, too.”
The range of fuel-efficient diesel and petrol powertrains on the new Astra Sports Tourer are smaller, more
compact and lighter, while simultaneously being more powerful and frugal when compared to previous
generations.

Vauxhall Fleet Press Releases – July 2016Vauxhall Astra named ‘Compact Family Car of the Year’ at Auto Express new car awards
Vauxhall’s all-new Astra has claimed another accolade, winning Compact Family Car of the Year at the Auto
Express New Car Awards 2016.
Announced at the annual Auto Express New Car Awards ceremony on Tuesday 5 July, the Astra topped the
Compact Family Car of the Year category. The award recognises the Astra as the car that has leapt forward in
many areas, but has also set the standard for others in its class. The judges praised the seventh-generation
model for its value for money, technology and “real-world appeal”.
Judges added that the all-new Astra remains competitive across the board, performing strongly not only in
cabin and boot space, but also thanks to its powerful and economic 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine. The
technology included in the latest model will further broaden its appeal to buyers, judges claimed.
