Thanksgiving for the Thessalonians’ FaithThanksgiving for the Thessalonians’ Faith
•2We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. 3We
continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith,
your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our
Lord Jesus Christ. • 4For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5because our
gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy
Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.
6You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you
welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7And so you
became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8The Lord's
message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God
has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about
it, 9for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell
how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10and to
wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who
rescues us from the coming wrath.

1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in
the hope of the glory of God.

15But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect,

Love: The Greatest GiftLove: The Greatest Gift
Agape: describes the attitude of God toward his Son and his people. Christian love is not an impulse of feeling; it does not always run with natural inclinations, nor does it spend itself only on those for whom some affinity is discovered. Love seeks the welfare of all and works no ill to any. When used of God, it expresses a deep and constant love, and interest of a perfect Being towards entirely unworthy objects.

Love Bears FruitLove Bears Fruit
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be the sons of your father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous
and unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax
collectors doing that?

6You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we
were still sinners, Christ died for us.

•12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I
shall know fully, even as I am fully known. • 13And now these three remain: faith, hope and
love. But the greatest of these is love.
