Certificates were presented to the “Coding for Kids” students from year 5. During a ten week pro-gram the children completed module 1 of Scratch Programming. Scratch is a program which was developed for children around 8 years of age to help them develop creative learning skills. When young children create programs, they learn important mathematical and computer concepts which improve their creative thinking, logical reasoning, problem solving and collaboration skills.

It’s extremely exciting to see the progress that these students have made through Term 1 and we all look forward towards Scratch Programming module 2 this Term. Mr Ron Vanderkley is an engineer who has been able to inspire our students.

Book Launch in B5 by Ms McGinniss

Canteen News by Teresa Elzer

On Wednesday the 18th May, the children in B5 invite family and friends to come to the official launch of our book titles “Holidays” . We narrated about an activity we did before we were in year 3. We accompanied this with a photo of ourselves. Fifteen adults came to our book launch and they were treated to Jameson Hewer, Heros McPherson and Jack Morgan reading their special page in the book. Celebrating our special events is important to us in B5. Thank you adults for your attendance.

Congratulations to Mr Graham Peterson, our Physical Education teacher, for being named as the WA Cricket Ambassador for 2016. Mr Peterson has devoted a lot of time to developing the knowledge and skills of cricket at Swan View PS. He has arranged for outings to the WACA and other sporting events. Each year Mr Peterson has organised the Interschool Cricket at Swan View Park and has brought cricket enthusiasts and mentors to inspire our would-be cricketers.
