From the Principal’s Desk
Dear Parents / Caregivers,
I would like to start this week’s newsletter by
congratulating students on a number of successes that we
have achieved over the last few weeks. At our K-6
Athletics Carnival we witnessed effort, performance and high sportsmanship as
all students had a go at various races and events. Of special note it was lovely
to see Justin take part in races and relays with friends throughout the day. A
number of our boys and girls also performed admirably at the Zone Athletics
and Field Events Carnival in recent days. I have also heard the amazing talent of
both our debating teams who again this year met each other in the finals. Well
done to you all!
A reminder that next week we will be having our School Photos and all students
are reminded to wear their Winter School Uniform for their Class photo.
At last week’s Parents and Citizens’ (P&C) meeting, I mentioned that the
Department of Education have been in contact with our school to see if we can
assist in helping out with the provision of Support Classes as there are students
in our community requiring this sort of adjustment for their learning. We have
invited the Department Representatives to attend our next P&C meeting on
Wednesday 14 September to provide further information and answer any
questions we may have. All parents and carers are invited to come along to this
meeting at 7pm to hear the information.
Finally, last week all students in Years 3 and 5 should have received their 2016
NAPLAN Report. As I have said to many parents, NAPLAN provides a point in
time score of how children are going against the education curriculum on a
particular day in the year. It doesn’t necessarily indicate what they are
achieving in their every day school work or the progress they are making day to
day. What NAPLAN can’t measure yet the school can is your child’s uniqueness.
Every child has different talents and gifts, achievements and successes that
make them who they are. They all have different stories and they all try so very
hard. This is what makes them special and unique! At Ringrose, we understand
that NAPLAN is a part of school life but we’re also all about doing our best no
matter what it is we undertake. That’s why we say that Ringrose is a great place
to be!
Yours sincerely,
Mr Loughhead

Roy Ringrose has visited
4R this week!
Roy Ringrose has visited 4R and
watched them create their
masterpieces in Creative Arts.
Their art works are based on
Cubism Art and Pop Art which
Stage 2 will be focused on for this
term. The students of 4R have
been studying the works of Pablo
Picasso, Georges Braque, Andy
Warhol and Richard Hamilton.
Penny and Aurora were very
inspired by the PowerPoint on
Cubism and Pop Art which
resulted in some very creative
master pieces. Cooper and Daylan
were motivated in completing
their artistic designs.
Some of these masterpieces can
be viewed in the Office foyer until
Week 8.

Stage 1 Excursion - Rouse Hill House & Farm
Tuesday 9th August, 2016
On our Stage 1 excursion day to Rouse Hill House and Farm students got the opportunity to
learn first hand about what school life was like in the late 19th century. Our students dressed in
period costume – straw hats, plus cotton pinafores for the girls and sailor collars or coats for
the boys – and then they met their schoolmistress to begin the school day. After saluting the
British flag, the class went into the 1880s schoolroom, where they sung the national anthem
God Save the Queen and prepared to start the first lesson. Students took part in practising
writing on slates, completing a science lesson, a sewing lesson and a drawing lesson as well as
an outdoor physical education drill and maypole dancing in the yard. Our students were able to
make comparisons between what school was like then and now. We also took a tour around
the farm land and students were able to see what farm life was like in the late 19th century.
