Well, it seems as though things may be starting to slow down at the Club, but its actually quite the opposite. This is the time of year when the officers, di- rectors, committees and staff are in full swing preparing for the transition into the 2019 season. We are moving full steam ahead with our pool improvements and with our search for a new pool director and swim team coach. Please contact Rear Commodore Bud Franke if you know of any potential candidates. We are also actively searching for junior sailing instructors, including a new head instructor. Our goal is to raise the bar and to make our programs the best that they can be. If you know of anyone who may be interested in and qualified for the instructor positions, please contact Fleet Captain Bob Farnum. We had a busy and fun October. The annual Mens Night was a huge success with over 100 in attendance. Our staff did an outstanding job! Our Childrens Halloween Party was very well attended and the little angels and goblins clearly had a blast! Mother Nature once again showed us whos in charge and forced me to close the Club the night of the Monster Bash due to an extreme high tide and storm surge that flooded the parking lot and drop- off circle. In true MYC fashion, we did a quick clean-up and had an all-day Halloween event on Sunday, with a great turn out and fun for all. This month, we look forward to Friday and Sunday entertainment in the Commo- dores Lounge, our annual Soup Wars! event, Thursday night Prix Fixe dinners, Sunday brunches and, of course, Thanksgiving. Make your Thanksgiving reservations early as this spectacular event sells out every year. I would like to thank members Dory Neilson and Nell Moll for all of the beautiful front entrance decorations throughout the year. We all appreciate your hard work! Finally, on a very sad note, MYC lost a great member and Past Commodore, John McGill. Past Commodore McGill attended almost every event up until a month before his passing and he will be sorely missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family. See you at the Soup Wars table... Dear Members, Welcome to November! Well, it seems as though things may be starting to slow down at the Club, but it’s actually quite the opposite. This is the time of year when the officers, di-rectors, committees and staff are in full swing preparing for the transition into the 2019 season.

The annual Men’s Night was a huge success with over 100 in attendance. Our staff did an outstanding job! Our Children’s Halloween Party was very well attended and the little angels and goblins clearly had a blast! Mother Nature once again showed us who’s in charge and forced me to close the Club the night of the Monster Bash due to an extreme high tide and storm surge that flooded the parking lot and drop-off circle. In true MYC fashion, we did a quick clean-up and had an all-day Halloween event on Sunday, with a great turn out and fun for all. This month, we look forward to Friday and Sunday entertainment in the Commo-dore’s Lounge, our annual Soup Wars! event, Thursday night Prix Fixe dinners, Sunday brunches and, of course, Thanksgiving.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.

ers participated in the 18-hole event and raved about how much fun it was and are already looking forward to next

Acampora Wins Great

River Golf Championship

Congratulations to MYC member

Andreé Acampora for winning the

Great River Golf Club Inaugural

Women’s Club Championship!

Andreé shot a 76, defeating Sophia

Sarrazin, who fired a 77. The net

division went to MYC member

Alicia Cavallaro, who shot a 72.

Congratulations!

Spooky Characters All Hallows Eve, coupled with a full moon, sure brings the characters out of the woodwork!

The Monster Bash was canceled due to weather, but Mother Nature couldn’t cancel Halloween!

Past Commodore John Nevin and his doppelgang-er made an appearance with Rudder.

Also spotted in the Com-modore’s Lounge were President Trump, a spooky Dia de los Muertos dude, Nevo, Rudder and the crazy Peacock Lady. Be careful out there!

Thank You!

Special thanks to the

McHugh sisters, who

generously donated this

beautiful hydrangea tree

to the MYC Gardens and

Grounds Committee. The

Committee planted the

tree in October, which is

sure to beautify the Club-

house entrance!

The infamous angling firm of Herbert, Downs and Trapp recently returned with an abundant harvest of Tautog, better known as Blackfish. When asked by The Rudder as to the secret to catching these delectable fish, Famous Angler Trapp responded that it involved marinating in Tito’s. It re-mains unclear as to whether he was referring to the bait.

‘Tis The Season!

Blackfish season, that is!
