The Guernsey Press and Star reported on the Jersey event with the following piece written by Matt Lihou. Willis blew the rest ‘out of the water’ Guernsey star Darren Warwick has described Trevor Willis’ record breaking Bouley bay hillclimb run as one of the finest drives he has ever seen.The prestigious British hillclimb Championship arrives in Guernsey today and while Scott Moran is expected to be the man to beat, Willis is in a rich vein of form. He won both rounds in Jersey on Thursday to close the gap on rival Moran at the top of the overall standings with the two fastest times ever recorded up the hill. The 37.14 second effort at the end of the day that won him round 20 was quick, but it was his spectacular attempt a couple of hours earlier that earned him a standing ovation from his rivals.As he was preparing in the pits, he witnessed the previous record of 37.79s broken by each of Richard Spedding (37.78), Scott Moran (37.47) and Wallace Menzies (37.39) in succession. Willis decided to take it one step further, though, by obliterating Menzies’ new mark with a staggering 36.48 that left his rivals well in his wake. It had Guernsey’s best driver Warwick purring in admiration at the drive. ‘In the hillclimbs I have seen or been involved in, which is about 25 years of driving and another 10 years or so before that watching, that is one of the finest drives I have ever seen’ he said. ‘Clearly, car technology moves forward year-on-year and it isn’t a huge surprise to see these guys get quicker each time, but to blow everyone else out of the water like that is incredible. Everyone else before him was nibbling away a bit at the record and then he just took it to another level by beating everybody by nearly a second’.

Willis, modest as ever, claimed that the success was not as straightforward as it appeared: “At Barbon, even though the track was drying after earlier rain on the bumpy surface, it meant the car was squirming as the weight came back on the wheels. Harewood is a difficult track to read, you can think you have done well but the opposite is true. In the last run off I felt I had not done enough but it shows how wrong this hill can make you”.’

Trevor converted his 3.2L V8 OMS28 to Methanol for the 2014 season.

Trevor was invited to compete in the FIA Hillclimb Masters at Eschdorf, Luxemburg on Saturday 11th October, where he finished 4th in Category 3.

Excerpt from AUTOSPORT Magazine 20.12.12 - Willis and Moran win to take title fight to the finale. ‘The title fight between Trevor Willis and Scott Moran will go to the Loton Park finale on the last day of September after each took a win at Doune. Moran had trouble with a damp track in he firs turnoff, but backed to win the second as Willis escaped the barriers on the last run of the event. While there are 40 points between them, Willis is now just four ahead after accounting for dropped scores. “The track was patchy after rain and I touched the barrier,” said Willis. “It spat the car back into the middle of the track.”’

Steve (SBD) & Chris from MBE joined Trevor when he was testing his OMS at Curborough in April 2012 to fine tune his new MBE9A9 ECU with traction control, launch control & closed loop lambda fuel mapping.

Trevor is delighted with the new system, saying that the traction control & launch control has helped dramatically particularly in the changeable conditions this year.

In March 2007, Trevor took his OMS to Curborough to meet with Steve to map his upgraded engine. The engine has been upgraded from last years standard Powertec V8 with SBD throttle bodies & MBE management system. This year we supplied Trevor with a new design cylinder head, pistons & camshafts, along with continuing with the SBD throttle bodies & MBE management system. The engine was put together by Powertec, who are very pleased with the result.

In 2006 Trevor’s new 2.6 litre Powertec built V8 debuted in the back of his latest OMS single seater at Gurston in May, and SBD’s Steve Broughton was on hand carrying out closed loop mapping of the engine during the car’s first runs in anger anywhere.

Trevor Willis was the 1996 CCC/BARC/HSA Speed Champion with his 2.0L Vauxhall powered Westfield.

Trevor’s OMS had our TP290+ kit on his 2.0L Vauxhall engine.

Trevor stayed top 2.0L driver & finishing 8th Overall in the Tran-X MSA British Hillclimb Championship 2002.

Trevor’s 2005 season started with FTD at Harewood hillclimb on Easter Sunday in his 2.0L Vauxhall powered OMS CF04 in a time of 63.56s

In 2003, Trevor was 5th overall in the British Sprint Championship.
