AUTHOR VISIT TO TRURO PREP SCHOOL TUESDAY 7TH NOVEMBER
Maz Evans
From the earliest age, Maz Evans was destined to become a writer: she was terrible with money, allergic to early mornings
and always promised that any written work would be delivered tomorrow. Maz is an author, scriptwriter, playwright, lyricist,
journalist, poet, dinner lady and whatever else pays the gas bill.
Maz’s writing career began in journalism as a TV critic and feature writer. She has written for many national titles and is a
regular pundit on The Jeremy Vine Show. After working as a creative writing lecturer, she founded Story Stew, an anarchic
creative writing programme that has visited primary schools and literary festivals around the UK, including Hay and Imagine.
Maz lives in London with her husband and four children.
Maz’s debut children’s novel WHO LET THE GODS OUT was published by Chicken House in February 2017 and was
selected as the Waterstone’s Children’s Book of the Month. It entered the bestseller charts on its first week on sale and to
date has sold to 11 countries worldwide. The sequel, SIMPLY THE QUEST is scheduled for August 2017, with books 3 & 4
in the series to follow from 2018 onwards. Her acclaimed creative writing events have featured at Hay, Imagine, Edinburgh,
Bath, Cheltenham, Latitude, Wilderness and many other literary festivals and primary schools around the UK.
Who let the gods out?
Elliot's mum is ill and his home is under threat, but a shooting star crashes to earth and changes his life forever. The star is
Virgo - a young Zodiac goddess on a mission. But the pair accidentally release Thanatos, a wicked death daemon
imprisoned beneath Stonehenge, and must then turn to the old Olympian gods for help. After centuries of cushy retirement
on earth, are Zeus and his crew up to the task of saving the world - and solving Elliot's problems too?
Simply the quest
Elliot Hooper's troubles are far from over: his mum's health worsens, he's struggling at school, and a bunch of anarchic
Greek immortals have moved into his home - including teen goddess Virgo, who's in trouble with the Zodiac. What's more,
death-daemon Thanatos and his scary mum are at large. As even more immortal allies and enemies emerge, Virgo and
Elliot must learn how to be heroes ...
