David William Sampson Deborah MilesLifting ourselves from the ashes ofimperfection we reinvent ourselves, like theremoulding of clay. Being human can hurtus, time will damage us, love may destroyus, and life could break us. Emotionscolour our views and thoughts, if we canreshape perspective we can heal, perfection can be found in a newperspective that can cure us of this innatehuman defect of imperfection.

Deborahʼs sculpture employs movementand interaction to realise the essence of afigurative subject. Born in Derbyshire, thecountryside has provided Deborah with arich source of inspiration and a fascinationwith the added dimension of movement inart. Feeling that sustainability is paramountin today's society, Deborah's work ispredominantly made from recycled tins, drift wood and other found items. Animportant concept behind Deborah's workis that is offers the viewer a momentaryescape from the stresses of everyday life.

Paula Briggs Porcellana & DuomoBoth the making process and final outcomeallow for an exploration of the humancondition. Growing away from habits ofcollecting as a means of control overemotions and the beauty found withinimperfection, current work conveys afeeling of fragility and strength, emotionswhich can overtake us at both the best andworst of times. Spring-time, birth & re-birth,surely are to be seen as the best of times. In anticipation of spring, Paula is currentlyexploring a fresh new colour palette withinher work.

Porcellana & Duomo by Michelle Arieu isabout crafting an evocative, abstract, illustrative habitat in porcelain. DUOMOwall panels are designed and handmade inporcelain and represent a fusion of earlyJapanese ceramic forms and Italianarchitecture. The result is an innovative mixof colour, light and striking architecturalforms. Measurement and colour aretailored to match an interior setting, from aportfolio of designs.

Sarah Jennings Stevie DaviesSarahʼs sculptures are inspired by theshape, texture and colour of both urbanand rural landscapes. As a result they oftenreference ornithology and the humanfigure; their intriguing forms inviting theviewer to touch and find their owninterpretation or meaning. Her work istechnique-led, and is the outcome of theinteraction between processes andmaterials used.

Construction and manipulation techniquesare key to Stevieʼs practice and all work isdesigned and produced by wrappingvarious sections of glass, sometimeshundreds of times, with wire. The processof wrapping wire by hand around chosenpieces of glass, not only creates decorativedesigns but also constructs the restrictivegrid that forms and shapes each one-offpiece.

Sue BlatherwickSimplicity is important in the decoration andcreation of form. Coloured slips applied inlayers while the clay is wet allows the clayto become a canvas and the form to remainfluid. Textile designs, patterns and graffitiinspire decoration. Work is single firedearthenware, produced with ecologicalaims.
