In this post we release a yet another freebie: JournalCrunch WordPress 3.0+ theme, a theme

for magazines or portfolios with an integrated journal. The theme was designed by Site5 and

released exclusively for Smashing Magazine and its readers. As usual, the theme is absolutely free to

use in private and commerical projects.

The theme is released under GPL. You can use it for all your projects for free and without any

Nice looking theme, but is it really GPL? There are usage restrictions in the

license.txt which seem to indicate otherwise.

Smashing Magazine publishes Site5 WordPress Themes all the time, telling

people they are GPL’d whne they are not. I have commented a couple times

about it, but the editors at Smashing Magazine won’t answer!

Beautiful theme, but I’d love to see the post content in a larger font size, even in a

serif perhaps. Content is supposed to be king, and I feel the posts are drowned out

by the sidebars, etc.

I switched to this theme on a total whim. Looks good but having lot of trouble with

homepage config, thumbs & sliders and what not. And yes I checked with host

about GD support. Might just switch back for now.

comment edit – scratch that, the alternative permissions on cache folder worked,

as suggested by the guide.


Looks awesome. However, I got a whole bunch’o'errors after installing. Any ideas?

Solved my own problem above, which turns out not to be specific to this theme.

Upload the theme by FTP folks, don’t use the “install themes” function on the

WordPress control panel. Simples.

Interesting that I have only been able to get the download link on the Site5 page to

work but cannot access the Live Preview or the Documentation links nor have I

been able to for several hours now.

What’s going on with that?

the font in (cufon) dont support spanish chars like: á,é,í,ó,ú!. badly :(

Also the installation of theme give me this error:

Quite a nice theme that balances portfolio and blog (even allowing you to not have

blog posts on home page if you don’t want them). Needs a bit of refinement in the

typography settings, but overall, nice work!

A nice-looking new template, but commercially unuseable due to no ad

placements. Needs to have at leaset a header banner and a widgetised sidebar

each side to make it useful.

Hello,

i really enjoyed the theme preview. The preview and design itselfs are awesome!

But once installed i got the “Call to undefined function: add_theme_support()” error

– I didnt find anything in the documentation.. anybody out there who has fixed this

error?

@GABI:

You need to check on the right side of the post, when you are writing, there is a

block there called “Featured Image”, you can set one there.

Then it will show up.
