January 23, 2012 Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s): The Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, (ESEA) as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, (NCLB) requires that parents who have children attending schools identified as Needs Improvement to be notified of the school’s academic status. The Georgia Department of Education and your local school are working hard to provide programs to help all students succeed. These efforts include implementing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. This law supports parent(s)/legal guardian(s) and schools working together to raise student achievement. As part of our efforts to improve student achievement and implement ESEA, your child may be eligible to receive Supplemental Educational Services (SES), which is free tutoring provided by State Approved Providers. This service provides free tutoring to enhance instruction provided outside the regular school day. Only parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of students in Kindergarten – 2nd grade who qualify to receive free or reduced price meals may request SES. If the school district does not have sufficient funds to provide services to all eligible children, priority will be given to those eligible children with the lowest test scores. Each child enrolled in the SES program will receive an allotment of $1,660. Funds are paid directly to the tutoring company or provider by the school district on behalf of the participating student and at no charge to the parent(s)/legal guardian(s). A list of Georgia Department of Education State Approved Providers is included in this brochure. The Georgia Department of Education State Approved Providers list is also available at your child’s school, the DeKalb County School System’s website at www.dekalb.k12.ga.us, or by accessing the Georgia Department of Education website: http://www.doe.k12.ga.us/tss_title_parent.aspx?PagerReg=TSSTitleSES To enroll your child in the SES Program, first review the enclosed SES provider list and choose the program you believe to be the best for you and your child. You are encouraged to ask questions to ensure that you make an informed decision. This list includes a short description of the services offered, the style of delivery (i.e., online, one-on-one, group), the location of services, and the transportation provisions. As you review the provider summaries, you will notice many providers have addresses located out of state. Each of these providers has tutors in the DeKalb County area and will offer services to students in the DeKalb County School System. Enclosed is a provider report card for each provider and a SES Request for Service form. The SES Providers must address specific and targeted deficits/objectives for each student served on their respective Individual Student Plan (ISP). It is essential for the provider to use the ISP form provided by DCSS or the Georgia Department of Education. The provider is required to document the

Parents/guardians who wish to apply for SES for the 2011-2012 school year may do so in Three ways. 1) Online (ePortal) 2) Paper application returned to child’s home school 3) Paper application mailed to the District office After reviewing the list of providers, complete the Request for Services form to enroll your child in the SES program. ESEA ONLINE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS Please note that your child must be a registered DeKalb County student at an eligible school. In order to apply online for ESEA Supplemental Educational Services, parents/guardians must have an active ePortal account. ePortal is DeKalb County School System’s web application designed to deliver secure student information and content to parents/guardians, students and staff. Parents/guardians may log on to the DeKalb County School System website at www.dekalb.k12.ga.us to access their ePortal account. This access will give parents/guardians the ability to register and view select information regarding their student(s). � Parents/guardians without an ePortal Account

To obtain an ePortal account you must apply online and be authorized by your home school. The authorization process may take up to 48 hours. To apply visit the DeKalb County School System website at www.dekalb.k12.ga.us, under the Community tab, select Parent Portal. From the Parent Portal page, under School Choice, click Supplemental Educational Services. At the SES Home screen, click the Enrollment link for instructions on how to complete the SES Free Tutoring process. The following information is needed to apply for an ePortal account:

� First & Last Name of the Student � Seven-Digit Student Number � Student’s Date of Birth � Georgia Testing Identification (GTID) Number

Parents/guardians with an Existing ePortal Account If you already have an existing ePortal account, then registration for SES Free Tutoring is simple. Log on to your existing ePortal account via the DeKalb County School System website at www.dekalb.k12.ga.us. Under the Community tab, select Parent Portal. From the Parent Portal page, under the School Choice section, click Supplemental Educational Services. On the SES Home screen, click the Enrollment link for instructions on how to complete the SES Free Tutoring process. The open enrollment period for registration will be Monday, January 23 – Monday, February 13, 2012.

Note: If an authorized ePortal account has not been obtained prior to January 23, 2012, please submit an ESEA Request for Services form in person to the DeKalb County School System, Office of School Improvement, Attn: ESEA SES Free Tutoring Division, 1701 Mountain Industrial Blvd., Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083, during the open enrollment period.

OTHER ESEA SES REGISTRATION OPTIONS

To further assist you with registration for ESEA SES Free Tutoring Program, the following option is also available.

Mail in Applications Parents/guardians new to the district who have completed the new student registration process at the home school and current DCSS parents/guardians may complete an ESEA Free Tutoring Request for Services Form and return it via US mail during the open enrollment period of Monday, January 23 -Monday, February 13, 2012. Request for Services forms should be mailed to:

All mailed Request for Services forms must be postmarked no later than February 13, 2012.

The DeKalb County School System cannot guarantee that your child will be approved for the free tutoring program. If the school district does not have sufficient funds to provide services to all eligible children, priority will be given to those eligible children with the lowest academic achievement starting with the highest grade level.

The DeKalb County School System, SES free tutoring enrollment dates are January 23·February 13, 2012. Please remember that the Office of School Improvement must receive· the ESEA SES Request for Services form by February 13, 2012. This gives you a minimum of 20 school days from January 23, 2012 to request services. Frequently Asked Questions Who is eligible for services? All students from low-income families who attend a school that is in the second year of Needs Improvement or in corrective action are eligible for services. However, the district may not have enough funds to serve all eligible students, in which case the district will give priority to the lowest performing students. Who are the tutors? The Georgia Department of Education has a list of State Approved Providers in your area from which to choose. Please review the attached list to choose a provider to serve your child. Where is the tutoring? It varies by provider. Tutoring may take place in your home, at the student’s school, a local community center, place of business, library, church, neighboring school or college. How much is tutoring? Tutoring is free for eligible students and will be paid for by the school district. The school district will spend a maximum of $1,660.00 on each student for tutoring services. When is tutoring? Tutoring services are provided outside of the school day. Services may be offered either before school, after school, on the weekends, or during the summer, depending on the provider. By receiving free tutoring, student academic achievement may increase. How do students get to tutoring? Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from tutoring services unless the provider offers transportation. Why should I consider additional assistance for my child? To ensure that students increase their academic achievement, particularly in reading, language arts, and math. What will my child study? Students will receive extra help in the areas in which they struggle academically. The school and the SES provider will assist parent(s)/legal guardian(s) in identifying the academic needs and establishing goals for each student. How will I know what my child is doing during the tutoring session? SES providers are required to submit progress reports throughout the program to inform parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of each child’s progress. How do I choose the right SES provider for my child? First, identify the areas that are causing your child to struggle in reading and math. Not all providers offer services in both reading and math. Review the attached list of approved providers, the services they offer, the style of delivery (i.e., online, one-on-one, group) and the location of services if transportation is an issue. Choose a tutoring provider that has a program that you believe will work for you and your child. Program Summary:

The owners of ATTL have over 26 years of experience in providing quality teaching techniques to students. ATTL has had a positive impact on increasing student achievement toward meeting state achievement standards in math and language arts/reading. Based on pre and post assessment data, 82% of students showed learning gains of 29%. Tutoring sessions are 1-2 hours per session and range from 2-5 sessions per week depending on the Individualized Student Plan. ATTL uses explicit teaching, which is a systematic method for presenting material in small steps, pausing to check for student understanding and eliciting active and successful participation from students. ATTL uses the Learning Horizons and Steck Vaughn curriculum for math and language arts. These curriculums are developed by professional educators and psychologists and teach children important educational concepts. Educate! Motivate! Celebrate! We believe if the child is in our seat we can help them. Our program is designed with the highest regard for helping struggling learners in Georgia. We tutor students in Kindergarten through 8th grade in reading or math. Our professionally trained tutors, most of whom are certified teachers from local school and community are trained to ensure that our students are always supervised. We are in our fifth year of operation. Our program is housed mainly in the local schools. Our classes are held two days a week for 90 minutes each day and we tutor in small groups and large groups. A key component of our program is goal setting with all parties; parents and school personnel participate following an examination of available school data and an analysis of a diagnostic pretest. With this information, we develop an Individual Student Plan (ISP) with specific goals and individualized curriculum for the student. We have aligned our curriculum and the master plan of each School District we serve. We present a progress report monthly to parents, teachers and school districts. Our company administers a post test to determine student growth and curriculum strengths and weaknesses. We are happy to report, there are significant reading and math gains in every school district we serve. Our company conducts initial and ongoing training for tutors. 1 to 1 Tutor provides live, online, one on one Mathematics tutoring; our tutors communicate with students via a headset, microphone and cyber-tablet, which are provided to students free of charge. Our program was developed by a former School Counselor/Graduation Coach/Curriculum Assistant Principal with over 25 years developing curriculum for “at-potential” students. Challenging Failure Tutoring specializes in helping students with learning challenges. Based on over 30 teaching experience, we understand that not everyone learns the same way or at the same rate. Program Summary:

ABOUTFACE! Reading has been teaching reading to students throughout the Southeast for 11 years and has been an SES Provider in Georgia for four years. Our reading lessons are designed using the five scientifically-based strategies recommended by the National Reading Panel to increase reading skills. Every student is pre-tested to determine their unique needs and an Individualized Learning Plan is developed with teacher and parent input. Then, leveled books are chosen that reflect each student's current reading abilities. As students' mastery increases, additional tests pinpoint remaining skill gaps. Learning Plans are then updated to fill those gaps. Finally, post-tests are administered to gauge student improvement. Each child receives approximately 20 hours of tutoring, usually 1 hour sessions, twice weekly. All of our pupils will move to the next reading level or higher. Every child keeps every book they read. Lessons are held in LEA's, churches, libraries or other public area. We provide all materials including scripted lesson plans, books, word cards, and any other materials needed for the course of instruction.

Program Summary:

Achieve HighPoints CSRA is a Franchise of Achieve HighPoints which is a GA state approved SES provider for the last 4 years. We are an online math tutoring program that helps students in Grades 3 through 12 improve their math skills. We offer students self-paced tutoring aligned to the state curriculum standards. Our program is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and students are required to complete 4 sessions each week. Each session is of l hour duration. Our virtual Math tutors all have degrees in Math or related fields.

Parents have written to us to say that Achieve HighPoints has successfully helped their children improve their math grades significantly. According to the UGA survey, 82.5% students enrolled with us reported that their Math grade improved in school. 87.6% students were overall satisfied with our Tutoring services. 86.6% students will recommend us to their peers and 66.7% of students who tutored with us got a meets or exceeds on their CRCT or EOCT. Program Summary:

Achieve Success Tutoring (AST) provides up to 40 hours of tutoring for each student receiving SES services. Our sessions are either conducted at the school facility or an alternate site such as a Boy & Girls Club, local church etc. We meet with student(s) 2 - 3 times per week in 60 to 90 minute sessions. We focus on small group instruction with a 4:1 ratio. We require a minimum of five (5) students to provide services in a school district.

AST conducts an individual pre assessment and prepares an Individualized Student Plan (ISP) for each child. We use high quality research-based methods and materials in our daily sessions.

We present a Student Progress Report to parents every two weeks. At the conclusion of the program, a post assessment is conducted and a final Student Progress Report is provided to parents.

AST employs a diverse network of certified teachers, retired educators, graduate students and degreed specialists who are committed to helping students be successful.

Program Summary:

The AchieveResults™ Tutorial program was developed by a former mathematics university professor and middle school math educator, and has a proven record for improving students’ academic achievement in reading and mathematics on the CRCT! The president of AchieveResults™ Tutorial has over 21 years experience in education and educational leadership, and AchieveResults™ Tutorial has successfully tutored students in Georgia and other states since 2003. Because of our small group instruction, our Tutors are able to identify and work on students’ individual weaknesses, based on Pre-Test results, previous student performance in school, and parental involvement. Student mastery is closely monitored, and parents receive monthly progress reports.

The AchieveResults™ Tutorial program meets 1 ½ to 2 hours after school, twice weekly at students’ school (with principal’s permission), or at a local public center within the students’ community. Saturday tutorials are offered in selected locations. ALL ACHIEVERESULTS™ PROGRAMS ARE TAUGHT WITHIN THE STUDENTS’ SCHOOL DISTRICT/ LOCAL COMMUNITY. ATS Project Success offers eligible K-8 students support in English Language Arts (including reading) and Mathematics. Program Summary:

August House uses highly engaging stories from around the world with colorful animations, entertaining read along files, carefully illustrated picture books and targeted practice assignments to build the specific reading skills each student needs to succeed on the CRCT. The self-paced program is aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for grades K-5. It can be used individually or in a small group. The program and assignments are highly interactive and guide the students to practice exactly the skills that they need to master. Students will need to have internet access and are expected to use the program twice a week for one hour at home, at a library, a community center or other facility with an internet connection. Each student is assessed throughout the program and the results are used to build and Individual Student Profile (ISP) that identifies specific strengths and weaknesses matching the GPS. Progress is measured, tracked and reported to ensure that the student is practicing the specific reading skills that he or she needs to build. When students complete a story unit, they take the book home to build their own personal reading library. After completing the program, on average the students will improve their reading skills by 10% or more on standardized tests. No transportation required. This highly engaging instructional model was developed over four years of research and testing. As a result, the program targets emerging and struggling readers who need to develop stronger skills and confidence in phonics, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency as defined by the Georgia Performance Standards.

Back To Basics, Inc. is going into its ninth year of providing tutorial services in the metro Atlanta area, seven of those years as an SES provider through the No Child Left Behind Program. Back To Basics, Inc. focuses on Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics instruction for grades K-8. Our coaches work with your children one-on-one in your home or with small groups of no more than eight students in a non-competitive environment (library, community center, etc.). We offer extensive academic assessments which target your child’s current academic strengths and weaknesses. Our programs have been mentoring and tutoring students of targeted neighborhoods since 1999. This new SES Provider qualification is an exciting addition for our Georgia certified teachers, and tutoring professionals. Our love for learning and for children keeps us relevant and high-performing.

Carter, Reddy & Associates utilizes Reciprocal Teaching strategies to tutor students in reading and mathematics. CF Tutoring specializes in helping students who have not been successful with traditional teaching. Based on 15 years of experience, we understand that not everyone learns the same way or at the same rate. Using a web based test to identify what your student has not learned, we develop an instructional plan based on the Georgia Performance Standards & the test they are expected to pass. Program Summary:

Cool Kids Learn, a nationwide non-profit educational organization, has been in the forefront of quality academic tutoring and enrichment programming for 10 years. Our mission is to help students build the academic skills and the love of learning they need to succeed in school and in life. We focus on strong partnerships with the school, district and parent so that our students will make significant improvement. Our recent history of documented test score improvements shows that up to 94% of our students improved reading and math skills by up to 40%, with students at greatest risk showing some of the largest gains. Our company has been providing tutoring services for 3 years and is an experienced Supplemental Educational Services provider that has built a solid reputation among students, parents, and districts as a provider of services that are organized, of high quality, rewarding and responsive to the needs of students and parents. We offer one-on-one or small group instruction 60 minutes for 2-3 days a week to students in reading. Services are offered at the student's school, home or community center. We use certified teachers, paraprofessionals and other qualified personnel that are experienced in working with struggling students. Program Summary:

Educate Online has successfully served more than 56,000 students since 2002, including more than 1,400 in Georgia since 2007. On average, students who complete our math program gain at least a grade level. This also positively impacts in-school performance and grades.

All instruction takes place on a computer and headset provided by Educate Online. Educate Online will also arrange internet connectivity, if needed. To ensure student safety, the computers are loaded with security software embedded in the operating system only allowing students to access the Educate Online program until they complete their tutoring. Students typically take two to four 60 minute sessions each week. Using headset and computer, they will be taught by a live instructor.

All sessions take place in the safety and convenience of each student's home - eliminating the need for transportation. Sessions are available seven days a week and are taught by U.S. state-certified teachers with at least two years of teaching experience. Student-to-teacher ratios do not exceed 3:1.

Students take an assessment test at the beginning of the Educate Online program to provide a baseline for determining an individualized learning plan. A Prescription Monitor reviews each plan to ensure that the skills are matched up properly and the curriculum is appropriate for that student. The plan presents content areas where the student is struggling, specific skills or strategies needed and examples of skills or strategies in use. Educate Online is able to serve ELL, special education, and disabled students given their ability to perform the necessary computer related functions.

Educational Enterprises is a tutoring and consulting company that was founded by Dr. Glenna Tyler in 1999. We have provided SES tutoring for 7 school years beginning in 2002-2003. Since 2002-2003 Educational Enterprises has been successful in assisting numerous schools in meeting AYP; Riley and Barden Elementary schools in Macon, Georgia and Rutherford Elementary in Detroit, Michigan. Program hours will run 20-30 depending on school district. All tutoring programs will begin with Achieve assessment test for K-12. After students' strengths and weaknesses have been determined an individualized plan is developed to target specific areas and skill gaps for tutoring. Goals and objectives will be determined by identifying skill gaps and correlating them to state standards for mastery. Student progress will be monitored daily. A monthly progress report and a detailed tutoring log will be sent home. As students master goals and objectives this will be noted on the tutoring log, then new goals and objectives will be determined for mastery. Envision Learning has been tutoring and mentoring kids since 2006. In addition to other services, we provide online math tutoring using (ALEKS) Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces, a web-based artificially intelligent assessment and learning system. Our program is aligned with the Georgia Performance Standards GPS). Students using ALEKS consistently, result in test scores increasing and overall mastery of basic math facts. eSchoolhouse has almost ten years of providing tutoring to K-12 students. The effectiveness of schoolhouses' instructional program has been well established and documented through high stakes test results, matriculation into university and higher grades. eSchoolhouse provides 1:1 tutoring to students through the Internet using its proprietary instant, real time communication software designed for K-12 education. Program Summary:

Grade Results has a four year record of helping Title I students across the country improve a grade level on state tests. Our live, one-to-one online tutoring features content aligned with GPS and integrated into the schools' curriculum.

Our pretest, other tests and our discussions with parents, teachers and staff help form our Student Learning Plan. The student then works with our tutors one hour per day, three days per week for ten weeks.

We provide monthly Progress Reports and will distribute them via email, mail, school meetings or phone calls. The program ends when the student takes the posttest to demonstrate the knowledge gained.

Program Summary:

For the past five years, Graham Consulting Group, LLC has offered In-home or small group tutorial programs to over 350 low- income students and families beyond the normal scope of school-based educational programs. Our tutorials have shown positive academic growth in several areas. For example, 90% of all students who have enrolled in our SAT/ACT preparation tutorials have achieved an increase of at least 250 points on their future standardized exams. In addition, 91% of all students who have participated in our Georgia High School Graduation Test tutorials have attained a minimal passing score in all subject areas. Moreover, 89% showed improvement in reading comprehension, while 95% showed improvement in Math. Our tutorials increase student academic achievement by providing a detailed curriculum that is aligned with the grade and subject specific Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). Our tutorial program will drive students to mastery in the following areas: reading, English, and mathematics. Students are tutored in one-on-one/small group settings following an instructional plan based on their strengths and needs. Using the students diagnostic test results, an individualized learning plan includes our recommended instructional program, based on the student’s individual needs. Our program is structured to give students 2- hour bi-weekly tutorials for a total of 15 weeks or 30 hours. The first and last two hours will be utilized for pre and post testing. Furthermore, instructors at Graham Consulting Group, LLC will have access to various technological resources including tape/CD players, grade appropriate books on tape, various listening activities and hands on manipulatives to assist in their tutorials. Program Summary:

In 2002, in an effort to reach out and accelerate the achievement of at-risk students, the GFCDC established an educational remedial program to teach, mentor, and tutor elementary school children living in poverty, within the Metro Atlanta Public School System. Our tutorial services are interactive and focus on the core academic subjects of Reading, Mathematics, and Language Arts for grades 1 through 12. Our instruction will emphasize skills to help all students achieve school success and pass promotional test objectives that the state requires. Certified teachers and highly qualified tutors will work with students on a one-on-one basis and in small group settings to ensure student success. Our program offers personalized student learning plans, innovative and unique techniques to reach students, access to computer based learning, comprehensive assessments, weekly and monthly progress reports to parents and teachers, on-going evaluations, and nutritional snacks. Tutorial services will be held at the Greenforest-McCalep Academic Center which is convenient, safe, and conducive to learning. The tutorial schedule includes a Saturday, three-hour tutoring session from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Our tutorial instruction and educational materials are consistent with Georgia Performance Standards as well as the National Reading Panel (NPR) and the National Council of Mathematics. They are high quality and based on the most current knowledge of what promotes student success. Our instructional techniques have been successful in helping students at a low-achieving Metro-Atlanta school pass the CRCT (standardized test) that resulted in the school being removed from the list of schools not making the state’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). The Green Forest CDC was first approved as an SES provider for the 2003-2004 school year. We are currently completing our fourth year of service to students of Atlanta, Clayton, DeKalb, and Fulton County School Systems.

Services are currently being provided in Williamsburg, South Carolina at a small rural elementary school that has not met AYP for four years. Cades Elementary School Partnered with I Can Kids, Inc. to provide three hours after-school tutoring in reading, math, science, and social studies. We achieve these results by conducting an online assessment to identify gaps in each student's math and/or reading skills and by creating an individual plan that combines computer-aided instruction with small group tutoring to improve student skill levels a minimum of 80% at posttest. Students spend 3-5 hours per week alternating between computer-based and pencil-and-paper, small group learning in 1-2 hours sessions over a period of 15-20 weeks. L4T uses a mastery learning model to assess student progress. This model integrates ongoing, curriculum- based measurements of each student's ISP goals with their tutor's on-site observation of progress the student makes toward his/her goals.

New Generation Academy (NGA) was founded on the principle, "All children can learn if given the right tools and opportunity." While there are many educational tools available, NGA has chosen the Jamestown Reading Navigator (JRN) program. Although this program is a reading program we incorporate reading in other areas, with an emphasis on reading math. Many math students have an underlying reading problem that inhibits their ability to learn math concepts. Next Level Learning has served Georgia students and their parents since 2006 with challenging and effective tutoring programs in Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics which connect with Georgia Performance Standards. A major focus is on developing strong self-confidence and the belief to succeed in school and their eventual careers. Students attending our program have showed consistent learning gains throughout, with the majority moving up at least one letter grade or higher. For over 5 years, PROGRAM & PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES® has provided instructions to students in K - 8 grades (elementary and middle school) in reading and math. Program Summary:

Reach for Tomorrow (RFT) has been an approved SES provider in 15 states for grades K-12 for the past 3 years. Students have shown an average grade level gain of 2 or more grade levels in English Language Arts and Math in less that 30 hours. Extra learning Online is used to deliver instruction to students which are a self-paced, individualized, web based, computer delivered, and secular, neutral, and non-ideological mastery learning program for grades K-12.

Tutoring sessions are 1 hour after school for up to 4 days per week using school based computers and the Internet- no software required. RFT uses only local teachers who are trained on the program to work with students using customized curricula for each student. Students are assessed using criteria based tests embedded in the program for grades K-12 as well as nationally normed Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) for grades 5-12. Individual Programs of Study are created to set goals for improvement of at least .5 grade level in English/Language Arts and 1 grade level in Math.

Each lesson progresses as follows: read a text book, providing instructional content in small segments; questions to check the student's understanding of what they have read; a short lesson quiz to measure their level of mastery of the lesson; and activities to reinforce the content presented in the book such as hands on activities such as BrainPops (interactive animated shorts) for the kinesthetic learner and streaming videos for the visual learner to further expand the content presented in the book. The lesson ends at the completion of these visual assignments, and the student moves on to the next lesson. Each student may work with a live tutor online from after school until midnight 7 days per week to assist with homework at no cost.

Program Summary:

Reading, Phonics, Math & More has been in business for 8 years and has been an SES provider since 2006-2007. Students are given a Preliminary Skills Assessment to determine their current level of functional proficiency. RPM has demonstrated increases in student achievement when the students attend regularly and parents are involved. A conference is held with the parents to review the results of the testing and to introduce them to the individualized program of instruction RPM has developed for their child. Instruction is done by certified teachers who currently work in or are retired from the area school systems. Students are taught in very small groups of 4 students to one teacher for grades 4 and above, and 1 on 1 instruction for students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. The child attends the program 1.5 hours, 2 days a week, for a total of 3-4 hours a week to receive individualized instruction in reading and math. The program has been very successful at improving the reading and math skills of all of the students, assisting students in passing CRCT exams, GHSGT, and increasing the self confidence of the student. The facility is newly constructed and provides a spacious learning environment for all students.

Program Summary:

Serenity Sheltering Arms believes that “All Children Can Learn” and provides “Personalized Instruction”. The agency offers tutoring in Basic Skills, Math, Reading, English/Language, CRCT, EOCT, the GHSGT and the GED. The curriculum is aligned with the Georgia Performance Standards and has proven to be successful. The model of instruction is pre-testing to access the student’s beginning level and learning style. Program Summary:

Solid Rock Academy, a licensed SACS accredited school, has served children for more than twenty-five years. Individualized student plans are developed using the Georgia Performance Standards, Coach Series, and IOWA Test of Basic Skills. SES Evaluation 2008-2009 reported 72.4% of students made positive gains in Math and 74.1% in Reading. Tutoring sessions consist of two hour blocks, twice a week in Math and Language Arts. These sessions occur after school 3:00 -7:00, Saturday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and summer 8:00 a.m-6:00 p.m. Our interactive instructional model is: review assignments, introduce the session standards, small group activities, assess and set goals. Student needs and goals are developed using pre/post assessments, parent conference and ITBS. Student progress is measured and compared using the ITBS and Post Assessments. Star Cooper, Inc. enrichment services concentrates on assisting students in grades K-12 with achieving high scores in the subjects of Reading, Language Arts, and Math. Equipped with over 32 years of instructional experience, our tutors understand that "Beliefs Affect Our Focus" - we have positive beliefs about our students. Our uniquely designed tutorial program implements the New Georgia Performance Standards and is proven to effectively improve academic achievement. Initially, we assess the students to identify deficient skills. Through a collaborative effort with parents and students, an Individual Student Plan (ISP) is developed and a personal portfolio is created for the student. Portfolios contain ISPs, signed student contracts, pre-established goals with time lines, student work, bi-weekly assessments, and progress reports. In order for our program to be successful, 1.5 hours, twice per week is mandatory. Additional sessions can also be arranged to increase retention levels and allot more time for one-on-one instruction when there is a group setting. Sessions are conducted after school, on the weekend, and during summer months at or office or at one of our satellite locations, i.e. local library, church, or community center. The first 10 minutes of every session entails a recap followed by speed and comprehension drills. Within the next hour we focus on new material and conduct practice activities. The final 20 minutes includes wrap up activities and mini assessments. We incorporate the use of workbooks, computer based software programs, worksheets, study guide handouts, and a variety of hands on activities to provide a broad range of approaches. Sylvan Learning (981) has been a Georgia SES provider since 2010, tutoring over 500 SES students. We are part of the largest tutoring company in the United States with over 2 million students successfully served over the past 30 years. Each student receives standardized assessments from which we build an Individual Instruction Plan. Students attend one of our neighborhood learning centers and receive 1 to 2 hour sessions twice each week. The Sylvan NCLB program is the same program advertised on television. Sylvan Learning Centers are conveniently located in Clayton County, Fayetteville, Stockbridge, Oakwood, Peachtree City and Cumming. NCLB students participate in the same instruction sessions as all other Sylvan students. No Child Left Behind students have averaged ¾ of a grade level increase on the California Achievement Test over their three months in the Sylvan Reading or Math programs. Our goal is to develop students’ academic skills so they can become confident, independent learners. Instruction is done at local Sylvan Centers so that all of the Sylvan learning materials, textbooks, and computer programs are available. The student teacher ratio is typically three students to one teacher. Students attend Sylvan two times each week for 1 or 2 hours depending on their age. The centers are open for instruction Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 7:30 PM and on Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The first step is an individually administered diagnostic assessment to pinpoint skill gaps. These skill gaps form the educational prescription individually tailored to meet your child’s needs. Our company has a combined effort of fifteen years of tutoring students in the Dade and Broward county area. Our programs community partnerships have been a major component for parents that have transportation issues. Program Summary:

For decades West Cobb Preparatory Academy has provided an early intervention tutorial service that promotes literacy to hundreds of inner-city children; of whom would not have otherwise been introduced to a print-rich environment. Statistically this tutorial program is one hundred percent successful by increasing students’ grades by at the least one letter grade. Our comprehensive instructional program targets students in K-8th grade and is our current initiative modeled by the recommendations of The National Reading Panel and guided GPS. We are accredited through the GAC, SACS, and The United Way. To maximize student achievement our facility is equipped with a computer lab and a media center. The computer lab has fourteen computers loaded with “Orchards Teachers Choice Software”. Our instructional material is an integration of the GPS student workbooks, and Reading Advantage. Tutorial sessions for will be taught in small-groups or individual, held twice a week and last about one hour and thirty minutes.

Program Summary:

X-CEL Operating Foundation has provided supplemental education services to students from families of all income levels for over twelve years. The overall success rate, measured by parent surveys, student report cards, and test results is 95%. X- CEL has been providing SES for NCLB in Tennessee since 2004 has been consistently rated ”Above Standard” .

X-CEL supplemental education services begin with a skills assessment. Following the assessment an Individual Student Plan (ISP) is developed with goals for improvement. Tutorial sessions are a minimum of one hour in length two to three times a week. They consist of individual/small group instruction, independent work, and skill-building exercises using various forms of technology.

The majority of instructors who perform X-CEL services hold state teacher certificates. They are highly qualified individuals who receive extensive training to ensure X-CEL student success. X-CEL services are performed at school sites and other community locations.

Program Summary:

Our agency has been a successful tutoring entity for the past 15 years. Our success has been featured in the local and print media as well, including the Oprah Winfrey Show. Last year our Agency was the primary SES provider for Early County school district. Collaboratively, our partnership resulted in the district being removed from a probationary status under NCLB. We have successfully delivered SES Since 2004. We administer pre- and post-tests using MySkillsTutor -an online educational tool aligned to Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). The results help chart the students' academic goals, program structure and timeline of progress. The sessions, offered after school hours, are 1.5 hours per day two to three days per week. Our lab has 20+ internet ready computers. We utilize the GPS as a guide in administering the curriculum to ensure our instructions is consistent with lessons students are being taught in classroom. We provide SES to a minimum of 10 students per LEA.

Program Summary:

Youth Enhancement Services Inc. (YES) has been a pillar of the Metro-Atlanta community, providing quality, accessible and effective education and prevention services to youth for 20 years. YES has impacted more than 2,000 youth and their families. We encourage all program participants to build their skill levels, self-esteem, and sense of community. YES was an SES provider for the 2004-2006 school years. During the years that we provided tutorial services, Palmetto Elementary meets AYP standards. We achieved improvement by ensuring that each child was thoroughly assessed. Based on those assessments and staff interaction reports, YES learning coordinators developed individualized plans for each student to improve performance. This custom approach along with our 1:7 instructor to student ratio facilitates an environment of positive growth and academic improvement. This upcoming school year, we will offer two hour tutorial sessions twice a week or a three hour tutorials on Saturdays.

Program Summary:

Zoom In-Home Tutoring has been tutoring Georgia children since 2001 and providing SES services since 2003. Our program focuses on giving every student individualized one on one attention in the comfort of their home. Each student is tutored based on school’s curriculum to improve in class participation and self-confidence. Student goals are set in accordance with pre- assessment results, conferences with parents, conferences with classroom teachers, state curriculum standards, and each student’s local curriculum. On average, each tutoring session lasts 1-3 hours and is held 1-3 times per week. Session time and length is customized for each student’s needs. Instructional materials are directly correlated with Georgia State Standards. Materials may include lesson plans, worksheets, workbooks, newspapers, current event related topics, etc. The Zoom program is proven to improve student academic achievement. On average, students who complete our program will see an increase in grade level equivalency of 1-2 grade levels.
