Spr_[^ th_ wor^! Archbishop Smith has issued a Pastoral Letter entitled Living in the Word of God Living in the Word of God Living in the Word of God Living in the Word of God that invites us all to renew our focus on Scripture as we answer the call of the Holy Father Pope Francis to listen to the Word of God and then to put it into practice. The complete letter can be found at caedm.ca/letter as well as on our Sacred Heart

website: www.sacredheartchurch.ca. A portion of the letter follows: Even if we take as little as ten minutes each day to read a few lines of the Bible, or one of the readings assigned for daily mass, this encounter with Christ will change our lives. … In line with a specific request of the Holy Father, I ask that all our families return to the beautiful practice of praying before and after meals (cf. Laudato Si, 227). Together with our traditional prayer to God for the blessing of the meal and our sharing of it, this can be an opportunity to hear a line from Sacred Scripture and respond to it.

Year End ReviewYear End ReviewYear End ReviewYear End Review November 26th, 2017 Christ the King of the Universe Gospel Reading Matthew 25:31-46 In this final week of the Liturgical Year of the Church it is appropriate to reflect on what you have done this

past year to make Christ our King known to others. It is by the example of your life that you take part in what Blessed John Paul II calls the ‘new evangelization’. The Second Vatican Council re-emphasized the missionary aspect of the Church and in particular the role of all the baptized in responding to Christ’s call to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18). Evangelization is the responsibility of the entire people of God and it is good stewardship of our faith. The lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23

Keeping AwakeKeeping AwakeKeeping AwakeKeeping Awake December 3rd, 2017 1st Sunday of Advent Gospel Reading Mark 13:33-37 A few verses before today’s Gospel passage, Jesus foretells the coming of the Son of Man. Only God knows the time and place for this event. Jesus cautions us to beware, to be alert and watchful for signs of His coming. At the beginning of our liturgical year, Advent season is a time of watchful waiting. When we are spiritually awake, we can see God interacting with us. God’s ultimate interaction with humanity is the Incarnation. Made in the image and likeness of God, we each have a response-ability to be ready for encountering Jesus anew—and responding as He calls us to His service again and again.

Restore us O God, let your face shine, that we my be saved Psalm 80
