In today’s Gospel of Mark, Jesus instructed his disciples about the need for watchfulness so that they will not be caught unprepared for this final Day of Judgment. His words and images draw upon Old Testament imagery, especially images found in the Book of Daniel. Jesus' words are not spoken to frighten his disciples, nor should they frighten us. Rather, His words are offered to trust in God’s goodness, love and mercy. If we do so, then we can feel confident when we stand before Him because we will not be relying on our own goodness, but on His. Let us ask ourselves, "Are we ready to go when the Lord calls us?" and "If we're not, then what we are doing about that?"

To be a Chris-an is, to be prepared, to live and grow in a life of holiness, to have a deep and meaningful rela-onship with God, and to live with God in heaven forever and ever.

Hoy en el Evangelio de San Marcos, Jesús instru-yó a sus discípulos sobre la necesidad de mante-ner vigilancia para que no fueran desprevenidos cuando se llegará el Día final del Juramento. Las palabras y imágenes de Jesús atraen imágenes del An-guo Testamento del libro de Daniel. Las palabras de Jesús no fueron dichas para asustar a sus discípulos ni tampoco para asustar-nos. Sino Sus palabras nos ofrecen confianza en la bondad de Dios, Su amor y Su merced. Si hace-mos esto, entonces podremos estar confiados en que cuando nos presentemos ante Él, no será por nuestra propia bondad sino la de Él. Pregunté-monos, “¿Estamos listos para irnos cuando el Se-ñor nos llama?” y “¿Sino estamos listos, que es lo que estamos haciendo sobre esto?” Ser Cris-ano es des estar preparado, de vivir y crecer en una vida santa, de tener una relación profunda y significa-va con Dios y de vivir con Dios en el cielo para siempre y jamás.

Beginning Saturday, December 5, 2015:

The Saturday morning mass will change from 9:00AM to 8:00 AM.

Sacrament of Anointing the Sick (a bilingual service — English and Spanish) will be offered after the 8:00 am Saturday mass.

No more confessions after 5 PM Saturday mass. The confessions will be on Tuesdays after the 5:30 PM, from 6:15-7 PM.

The rest of the weekend mass times, the weekday mass schedule & the Wednesday’s mass & confessions remains the same.

While changes are often not the easiest of things to implement, we hope all parishioners will understand the reason and need for these changes at this time and thank all parishioners for their assistance in adapting to these changes.

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME TRIGÉSIMO TERCERO DOMINGO DEL TIMEPO ORDINARIO

Sister Melody Mobley is a Religion and English

teacher at STM. She has been a teacher for 3

years. Sr. Melody received a Bachelors of Arts

degree from the University of St. Thomas.

Sr. Melody was born on the Feast of the Annuncia-on in

Cut’N’Shoot, Texas to Hunter and Sandra Mobley. Sr. Melody is

the youngest of 8 girls. She has 28 nieces and nephews and

several great-nieces/nephews. Sr. Melody aCended Catholic

School from K to 8th grade. She graduated from Incarnate Word

Academy in 2003 where her rela-onship with the Sisters flour-

ished. In 2009, she entered the Congrega-on of the Sisters of the

Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament in Houston. She is the

youngest professed Sister with that Order. Sister Melody states

“as I hold all members of St. Thomas More in my prayers, I ask

that you keep me in prayer as I prepare to renew my vows this

winter.” Her interests and hobbies are croche-ng, singing,

pain-ng (when she has the -me), and watching a good movie.

She has recently begun journaling through photography as a

means of ge\ng in touch with God’s crea-on. Sister Melody

states “I love teaching at STM because…the students are so excit-

ed to learn and try new things. The members of the faculty/staff

support each other in crea-ng a posi-ve family environment. I

truly enjoy sharing my faith with the students as each learns and

shares his or her own faith with me in and out of class.”

La Hermana Melody Mobley enseña religión e inglés en STM. Ella ha sido maestra por tres años. La Hermana Melody -ene una licenciatura de Artes de la Universidad de St. Thomas. La Hermana Melody nació el día de la Fiesta de la Anunciación, en Cut’N’Shoot, Texas. Sus padres son Hunter y Sandra Mobley. Acaba de empezar a crear un diario de fotogra_as como un modo para conectarse con lo que Dios ha creado. La Hermana Melody dice: “Me encanta enseñar en STM porque…los estudiantes están entusiasmados por aprender y hacer cosas nuevas. El personal y los maestros se apoyan entre sí para crear un ambiente familiar posi-vo. Me encanta compar-r mi fe con los estudiantes mientras cada uno aprende y comparte su propia fe conmigo, dentro y fuera de las clases.”
