In the United States we celebrate the first Monday of September
as Labor Day. Today, let us celebrate the labor that built this Great Na$on and proclaim the dignity, meaning and redemp$ve value of
all human work. HAPPY LABOR DAY!
There is a small, but very important word that, I believe, would sum up the whole message and the whole work of Jesus. The word
"Ephphatha," which means, "be opened." In the context of Mark 7: 31-37, it isn’t a surprise to see the word
and the gesture of Jesus’. Ephphatha" are included in the Rite of
Bap$sm where the priest touching the mouth and ears of the newly bap$zed say: "Ephphatha" “The Lord Jesus made the deaf hear and
the speechless speak. May he soon touch your ears to receive his
word, and your mouth to proclaim his faith, for the praise and glory
of God the Father.”
“Ephphatha,” so that our ears would be opened, to hear God’s
Word proclaimed to us by the Church. “Ephphatha,” so that our tongues would be loose to glorify God
and sing his praise, for the Lord hears the cries of the poor.
May we experience every day, in faith, the miracle of ' "Ephphatha," to live in communion with God and with others.

En los Estados Unidos el primer lunes de sep$embre se celebra el
Día del Trabajo. Hoy, vamos a celebrar a los trabajadores que construyeron esta Gran Nación de EE.UU y proclamar la dignidad, el
sen$do y valor redentor de toda la humanidad. ¡FELIZ DIA DEL
TRABAJO! Hay una palabra pequeña, pero muy importante que, en mi
opinión, resumirá todo el mensaje y toda la obra de Jesús, es "Efata", que significa "abrir".
En el contexto de Marcos 7: 31-37, no es una sorpresa ver la
palabra y el gesto de Jesús. “Efata” se incluye en el Rito del Bau$smal donde el sacerdote tocando la boca y los oídos de los
bau$zados dice: "Efata" "El Señor Jesús hizo oír a los sordos y hablar
a los mudos. Que pronto toque tus oídos para recibir su palabra, y tu
boca para proclamar su fe, para la alabanza y gloria de Dios Padre"…
"Efata", para que nuestros oídos se abran, para escuchar la Palabra
de Dios proclamada hacia nosotros por la iglesia. "Efata," para que nuestras lenguas glorifique a Dios y cantar sus
alabanzas, porque el Señor escucha el clamor de los pobres.
Que podamos experimentar todos los días, en fe, el milagro de "Efata", para vivir en comunión con Dios y con los de más.

“Exodus”- This fall, Adore Ministries will host the Exodus Series consis$ng
of eight inspiring evenings of Worship, Teaching, and Eucharis$c
Adora$on. The evening will be held on the fist Wednesday of the month
at the Catholic Charisma$c Center on Cullen Blvd. at 7pm, and on the
Second Wednesday of the month at Prince of Peace
Catholic Church on Tomball Parkway at 7pm with a potluck dinner star$ng
at 6pm. These events are free and open to all ages.

God Is Calling You to a Deeper Rela0onship with Him
If we consider that God is the Divine Bridegroom and the Church is his Bride, then the prophets can be seen as “spiritual marriage coun-
selors.” They afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted, calling us to return to our covenant rela$onship with God. They urge us to
repentance, warn us of the dangers of sin, and announce the bless-
ings of faithfulness. Their prophe$c words speak to us even today, as they draw us closer to our
heavenly Bridegroom.
St. Thomas More will begin The Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mer-
cy Study, three $mes each week
beginning Monday September 14th at 7pm, Wednesday Sep.16th at
10 am and Thursday Sep. 17th at 7pm. The 10 week study will end the
week prior to Thanksgiving. For more informa$on or to register for
the study visit the registra$on table a`er Mass or Deacon Ed Gosline
in the parish office (713-729-0221). I encourage you to join us. You
will find it enriching and inspira$onal.
Medical Mission Team Update:
The Taste and See Dinner will be held this year on October 3, 2015 at 6:30 pm in Servant Hall. Tickets are available at $60 per ticket. Tables of 8 can also be purchased. If you would need service hours or to volunteer to help at the dinner, please let us know as well. Auction items are requested, large or small, all
donations are welcome. If you need us to pick up the item, let us know or leave at parish office for us to pick up. Your generosity

Andrea Crump. Andrea Crump is a 6th grade Literature and
Social Studies Teacher at STM. She has been teaching at STM
for five years. Ms. Crump has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Rela-
$ons and a Minor in Marke$ng from the University of Houston. Ms. Crump
grew up in Luhin, Texas. She enjoys traveling, scuba diving, and the sunny
and blue Caribbean islands. Her hobbies include cooking, reading and
spending $me with family and friends. Ms. Crump says “I love teaching at
STM because it’s a Chris$an based school, and it’s great to see the kiddos
grow academically and spiritually!! I also enjoy having the freedom to start
my work day off with a prayer-not all teachers can do that!”
