STAAR Test and Expectations

• 3rd Grade: Reading/Math

• 4th Grade: Reading/Math/Writing

• 5th Grade: Reading/Math/Science

• KG take TPRI Reading assessment BOY/MOY/EOY

• 1-2 take Istation assessments on going

• K-2 District Math Assessment. BOY/MOY/EOY

Attendance

• Four Parent Notes allowed each semester (excused)

• Doctor notes always excused, but count towards total absences. (18 max)

• 7 unexcused absences result in possible court action.

• If your child will be absent, call Ms. Hoard 235-1152

• Send a note with your child the day he/she returns.

• Attendance tied to minutes, not days

Tardies

• The building opens at 7:30 AM

• Students are to go straight to the cafeteria.

• ALL students will be dismissed from the cafeteria.

• Students are tardy at 8:00 AM and must check in at the office with a parent.

• One lunch d-hall for every 3 tardies.

• Excessive tardies will be reported to the Truancy Office

Walking students to class…

• Parents wishing to go beyond the foyer in the morning must check in at the office and receive a name badge. • If you need to speak to your child’s

teacher, email and make an appointment, or leave a note in the office.

• Instruction time is very valuable and we need to maximize every minute.

• Your child’s safety is our primary concern. Monitoring who is in the building at all times is crucial to keeping our school safe.

• Any parent beyond the foyer will be asked to go to the office and check in.

Raptor Visitor Check-In

• Requires ALL visitors to check in at front office

• 1st visit: Drivers License Swiped and Background Check run

• Subsequent Visits: Visitor signs self in and prints badge

• Drop Off• All Students should come in through

the front door or the West Door and go straight to the cafeteria.

• Doors will not open until 7:30 AM

• Send notes if students are to be dismissed early.

Classes and Student Transfers

• Classes are set. • There will be no moving students unless

it is due to overflow

Sick Children

• Students with a temperature over 100.0 must go home.

• Over the counter medication must be accompanied by a Medication Authorization Form

• Prescription medicine must be brought with a Medication Treatment Request form signed by a doctor.

• Pink Eye/Head Lice: Must be treated before returning to school.

• Lunch accounts are set up and paid in the cafeteria.

• Kindergarten Nomination packets to go home in October

Volunteer Background Checks

• Needed if you want to work in the classroom or assist with school functions or field trips.

Parent Online Gradebook

• Not extremely helpful for K-2 due to Standards Based Grading.

• 3rd-5th grade can access each class assignments and current averages.

• Call the Fowler office 235-1152 to gain access.

Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value

• Cookies, snacks etc. cannot be brought into the cafeteria at lunch

• If you would like to bring birthday snacks for your student, please contact the teacher and coordinate for the end of the day.

• Parents may bring lunch for their child only at lunch time.

• The blue tables are reserved for student and guest ONLY!
