SIMPLE SENTENCE
Simple sentence is composed of one independent clause with
one complete subject and one complete predicate.

Compound sentence is composed
of two or more independent
clauses.

(INDEPENDENT CLAUSE)BUT ONLY A FEW RESPONDED
(INDEPENDENT CLAUSE)
NOTE: INDEPENDENT CLAUSES ARE JOINED BY RELATIVE CONJUNCTIONS LIKE BUT, AND, SO, ETC.
COMPLEX SENTENCE
Complex sentence is composed of
one independent clause and one
or more dependent clauses.
EXAMPLE
Only a few
answered the call
when “Mother
Earth” needs us.
ONLY A FEW ANSWERED THE CALL(INDEPENDENT CLAUSE)
WHEN MOTHER EARTH NEEDS US.(DEPENDENT CLAUSE)
COMPOUND-COMPLEX SENTENCE
Compound-complex sentence
is composed of two or more
independent clauses, and at
least one dependent clause.
EXAMPLE
People continue to create damages to our environment; consequently, people are suffering environmental problems which are caused by humans.
People continue to create damages to our environment;
(INDEPENDENT CLAUSE) consequently, people are suffering
environmental problems(INDEPENDENT CLAUSE)
which are caused by humans.(DEPENDENT CLAUSE)
