Overview of the International Kundalini Yoga Therapy – Professional Training

The International Kundalini Yoga Therapy Professional Training is comprised of 14 in-person segments and 7 online segments. The training is fully integrated and the in-person segments are in a sequential order. The fi rst 3 in- person segments are focused on shifting from being a Kundalini Yoga teacher to becoming a Kundalini Yoga Therapist. They are primarily yoga focused and take the trainee deep into the consciousness of Kundalini Yoga as Therapy. The subsequent in-person segments are focused on assessment and clinical application. They take the trainee deep into clinical practice of Kundalini Yoga as therapy.

Any Kundalini Yoga teacher can take the fi rst 3 in-person segments in any order (although it is more integrative to take them as 1, 2, 3) without enrolling in, or committing to, the full training. After that trainees enroll in the full program so that they may benefi t from supervision and the integrated process of developing skills, sensitivity, experience and consciousness over the 3 year, 1,000 hour training.

As the 3 year training unfolds, there are selected segments that a Kundalini Yoga teacher can take without enrolling in the full program provided they have taken the fi rst in-person segment, Foundations of Kundalini Yoga Therapy – Principles and Practices. These are posted on our website 3 - 5 months before they are offered.

All the online segments are open to any Kundalini Yoga teacher whether they enroll in the full training or not.

Special attention is given to the personal development to engender awareness, strength and subtlety of the sensory system, intuition, compassion, deep listening, sensitivity, humility, endurance, radiance and grace. An 8 week Kundalini Yoga curriculum for a mixed conditions group class are included.

Foundations of Kundalini Yoga Therapy – Principles and Practices is the fi rst segment of the 1,000 hour International Kundalini Yoga Therapy Professional Training and is open to Level 1 Kundalini Yoga teachers. Those Kundalini Yoga teachers who are in the integrative healing arts fi nd this training especially useful.

We will explore the unique structure of a therapeutic Kundalini Yoga class and the layering model of teaching Kundalini Yoga to people with health conditions. Yogi Bhajan’s principles of teaching Kundalini Yoga as a therapeutic intervention are detailed and the psychology of health recovery and the role of family and friends are addressed.Introduce yourself the differences between a yoga teacher, yogic healer and a yoga therapist and the specifi c language of each.
