If you have been hearing the call to connect health and faith by serving as a nurse in a church, this is the place to start! Through the Foundation of Faith Community Nurse Preparation course you will be trained to provide leadership in the area of whole person health in collaboration with the pastor, staff, and lay ministers of a faith community.

Prerequisite: Current Licensed Registered Nurse

This course uses the 2014 Curriculum developed through the International Parish Nurse Resource Center (IPNRC). Participants who complete the course in its entirety will receive an IPNRC certificate of course completion.

September 14-November 19, 2018Sanford Healthoffers the Foundations for Faith Community Nursing certified course taught by professionalnursing faculty who are experienced faith community nurses representing an array of faithtraditions. The course is a pre-requisite for RNs who want to enter faith community nursingpractice.
This course explores the specialty practice of Faith Community Nursing that combinesprofessional nursing and health ministry, emphasizing health and healing within the faithcommunity and the larger community. It offers registered nurses with a strong spiritual faiththe knowledge to implement and facilitate a Faith Community Nursing ministry, as well aspractical opportunity to apply learnings from the course to the dynamic nature of their faithcommunity and its particular needs. This course derives from the curriculum endorsed by theWestberg Institute for Faith Community Nursing.
The course starts with a weekend retreat near Watertown SD then continues on-line onMonday evenings. Course Cost is $390 for RNs not employed by Sanford Health. This fee coversthe cost of the retreat, books and other course materials.
