Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Another busy week has flown by! On my regular walks around the school

popping in and out of the classrooms, I have been very pleased to see

students working hard and highly engaged in their learning. Highlights for

me this week were listening to A2 learn to play Hot Cross Buns on the

recorder, seeing how far our youngest learners in KW, KM and KC have

progressed in their L3 literacy rotations and watching Q23 participating

enthusiastically in Wiradjuri language classes with Aunty Esther and Mr

Murray.

On Tuesday Mr Garlick accompanied our school leaders to Bathurst for the

GRIP Leadership conference. This conference is aimed specifically at

primary school student leaders. Our Year 6’s had a fun-filled day learning

about lots of different leadership skills and discussed some great ideas that

they can bring back to our school. The stop at Annie’s ice cream parlour

on the way home was of course, also a huge hit! On the same day our

public speakers travelled to Orange to participate in the annual CWA

Public Speaking competition. Congratulations to all students who

participated in both events and proudly represented our school.

This week our netballers had a wonderful day in Orange on Wednesday

competing in the PSSA Eastern Division Round Robin competition against

different schools in our area. The girls came away with two wins and one

loss and from all accounts, had a great day! A special mention goes out to

Hunter Reid who showed great courage and determination playing all

three games with a broken finger! Thank you to Mrs Montgomery for her

expert coaching and to the parents who assisted with transport.

Huge congratulations to the school choir who performed today at the

Cowra Eisteddfod. There were a few nerves before our students took to the

stage but all performed with great enthusiasm! Thank you to Mrs Long, Mrs

Oborn and Mrs Pulling for their work in coaching this year’s choir groups.

Week 6 and the Primary Band on the 7th June.

catching up with our MPS friends. Thank you to Mrs Johnson from MPS, Mrs

Ryan and Mrs Duncan for their organisation of this event. Good luck to all

students who will be tackling the tough 2km and 3km courses!

Just a reminder, our whole school assembly is on again this afternoon

2017 Book Fair is coming….Week 5 Mon to Fri

The 2017 Book Fair will be held in Week 5 22 May to 26 May. Books will be available for viewing the week before. Every pur-

chase of a book earns a commission that returns $$$ to the library which we use to purchase more resources for students and items

to make our library an even nicer place to be.

Have you ever lost a library book?

During this year’s book fair we are asking students and parents if they would like to purchase a book to be kept in the library for students to borrow. Any book donated to the library will have a certificate placed in the front of the book stating whom has donated this book. If you have ever lost a school library book it would be wonderful if you could consider replacing it by purchasing a book of your choice at the book fair or even making a donation towards the purchase of a book.

Sports Report….

PSSA Netball Report

Congratulations to the CPS netball side and their efforts at the PSSA Round 2 competition at Orange on Wednesday 17th May. Well done to our super shooting team Hunter Reid, Lucy Scammell and Tahlee-Pearl Beckett. There was some speedy footwork in the centre court from Lorissa Wood, Coco Chambers, Ella Kilby and Zsalea Mansley. The defensive side held up extremely well with Hallie Wolfenden, Nattalea Coghlan and Jada Buchan. Josie Muddle’s skills were sadly missed on the day. The girls achieved a hard earnt 2/3 wins. A special thanks to Alannah Knight for taking the time to umpire for our side. Also to our wonderful parent cheer squad and drivers - Glenn & Karen Reid, Sal Scammell, Kylie Wood, Joanne & Jay Buchan, Belinda Kilby, Melissa Wolfenden, Chloe Wolfenden, Rhonda Kelton, Annabel Fagence, Mike Chambers, and Kylie Krause.

A big congratulations to Hunter Reid for being selected to attend the final trial for the Western Team. Good Luck

Important Reminder from Cowra Bus! When your child disembarks from the bus of an afternoon, please ensure

you are at the bus stop and not across the road. Your precious little person

is excited to be home and give you an update. They do not understand

the road rules and the speed of cars, trucks, buses and they will run across

to you, without checking whether it is safe. Please help us by being at the

bus stop to keep your child safe.
