For the week ending: Friday 16th November, 2018 Dear Parents All the girls in FI-VI have been busy with their assessments this week and I do hope that this has proved to be manageable in terms of pressure and stress. Some pupils thrive on the challenge but others find it extremely difficult. Whatever type of child you have, the tests are a means to an end and help the children to familiarize with the process from an early age. For teachers and parents, we find out where learning gaps are and the patterns of behaviour and performance for exam situations. Today being Children in Need and mufti day, is a lovely way to end the week! I would like to wish a belated Happy Diwali to all our Hindu families! Have a lovely weekend. Dear Parents

All the girls in FI-VI have been busy with their assessments this week and I do hope that this has proved to be manageable in terms of pressure and stress.

A report by Sequoia and Maja D

On Tuesday 6th November, the Gladman Tournament took place at Seaton House. There were seven schools: Seaton House, Ewell Castle, St David’s, Oakwood, Aberdour, Royal Russell and Collingwood. Everyone played very well. We won three matches and in the end lost three very close games. We gave a good fight and had fun whilst doing it. Our first match was against St David’s. Thanks to Maya T, we scored the first goal, leading us to win the first match of the tournament. Our second match against Royal Russell was a close game and we tried our hardest but in the end we lost. All in all, it was a great experience and thanks to our fantastic team: Nicole, Maya T, Sequoia, Shriya, Lucie, Maja D and Tabytha. We all tried our hardest and as a result came fourth.

Congratulations FVI for playing so well. The atmosphere was electric as you all played your very best during each match. Well done to Form VI for being such wonderful hosts to our visitors and thank you to Forms I - V for being such encouraging supporters! Thank you to Mrs White, Miss

Perker and Mrs Hossenbux for organising such a nail-biting, exciting event and to all staff, pupils and parents who came to support our girls.

Match Report by Gracie B, FV Seaton House V Chinthurst (away)

On 14th November, 2018, Forms V and VI played a netball match against Chin-thurst School. We took to the court after the Form VI match, full of ex-citement. We dominated the mid-field, moving the ball forwards, where the ball was passed to Gracie S and she scored. Our confidence soared in the second half with some excellent passing from Sydney and fantastic defending from Kaiya. Luck was on my side as I scored three goals in the second half and we won overall with an amazing score of 4—0! We would like to thank Mrs White for her fabulous coaching. She has been with us every step of the way and she helped us to play well as a team.

Very well done girls — what an incredible achievement and well done to Gracie B for scoring a hat-trick! Amazing!

Well done and thank you to Form VI for a number of things:

The Gladman Tournament: our FVI team played exceptionally well, showing great sportsmanship when faced with victories and losses. The rest of Form VI ensured that the event was a huge success - they made everyone feel so welcome and their politeness and exemplary manners whilst escorting guests from other schools to the courts and handing out teas and biscuits to all our visitors created such a wonderful atmosphere throughout the whole event. Open Morning - Form VI proved once again that they are wonderful ambassadors for our school as they gave prospective parents guided tours around our school. This Open Morning was particularly well attended, resulting in many registrations. New parents were so impressed—every single one of them commented on how polite and well mannered our girls are. Poppy sales - FVI girls volunteered their break times over the course of last week and showed us what amazing role models they are. They all took great care as they helped the younger pupils to manage their money and made sure that every customer got what they wanted.

We are very proud of Form VI. Well done girls!

Well done to all the pupils in Form VI who took part in the Primary Maths Challenge this week! Certificates were awarded to the following girls:

Gold: Ramya Silver: Lucie, Nicole and Shriya

Bronze - Beatrix, Kami, Dila, Maya T and Chahna
