Food Wastage & Power Saving Initiatives:

Over 300 million Indian citizens have no access to electricity!! Over one third of India's rural population lacked electricity, as did 6% of the urban population. Of those who did have access to electricity in India, the supply was intermittent and unreliable. In the year 2012, blackouts and power shedding interrupted irrigation and manufacturing across the country. Then how could we waste power? Here is the initiative taken by students of NMIMS HYD to save the power with the slogan 'SAVE POWER-SAVE NATION', which has really yielded good results in the campus.

Student Social Responsibility Committee has also initiated the cause to save food in the hostel & cafeteria premises.

A Blood Donation camp was held with the help of Red Cross Blood Bank(Indian Red Cross Society), Hyderabad. The blood was collected by Dr VR Deshpandey and his team from Red Cross. A total of 43 students and staff donated blood. The event was organised by the Students of 'Student Social Responsibility' Committee.

"Student Social Responsibility, we care… so we do…".We care about the poor and downtrodden sections of the society and so are doing our best to improve their life in a sustainable way. With this cause the Student Social Responsibility Committee of NMIMS HYDERABAD trod ahead and organized certain events, collaborated with NGOs as well as took part in marathons which in turn resulted in adding value to the life of those sections of the society who are deprived of even a healthy meal in a day. Visiting Orphanage:

It is well said that management lessons are learnt from even observing the environment. What else can be best for a manager than getting acquainted with the environment in which he/she has to work.SSR Committee with this inherent goal organized a trip for all the students to "SPOORTHI", an NGO(for the children) located in Hyderabad. Our main objective included the following:

• To help the NGO in the way we can.

• To make the children in the organization believe that "Life is really wonderful and joyful ".

• To make ourselves a socially responsible citizen.

• To understand how those people managed to be happy and hold high ambition even being deprived of the basic living standard.

10k run:

Hyderabad 10K is being organized every year by "The Hyderabad 10K Foundation", an NGO working with an objective of promoting Health, Fitness and Sports. Corporate, celebrities, sports persons as well as school students take part in this marathon, so how can NMIMS Hyderabad lag behind. And here we were with the PGDM Batch and faculty to run for a noble cause.

On 27th Nov 2011, the students of the NMIMS, Hyderabad campus actively participated in the 10 K run organized WE CARE

WE CARE, a winter project done as a partial fulfillment of the requirement for PGDM program, was organized with the help of College faculty and collaborating with NGOs. Intention was "To sensitize students towards social issues and provide them with an opportunity to apply Managerial tools relevant to community engagement". So it was time for all the PGDM students to dirty their hands. Students were sent in groups to different NGOs to contribute towards their respective NGOs cause and make a difference. Yes, we take pride in saying that the difference was really made by the PGDM Batch. Poor children were taught, awareness campaigns were organized, Rehabilitation Centre was visited, survey of slums were done and sustainable revenue generation model was created for an NGO. Those few days could not suffice for the big cause which the students held, so still the work is going on.

Place a Donation Box:

A bitter truth, "Money Matters". And yes it matters to everyone irrespective of their wealth accumulation. If you want to help someone needy, you should always have money in surplus. So SSR Committee placed a Donation Box in the College. And the money is being used frequently to help the needy. The sole purpose is to pool in the money, so as to help the people in needy.
