Activity

A Food Chain is the movement of energy from one thing to another. In a Food Chain, everything is connected and if you change one part, then the whole system is disrupted or changed.

Energy comes from the sun, goes into plants to grow, animals eat the plants and absorb the plants’ energy, other animals eat the animals that ate the plants, then those animal die and a decomposer puts the energy in the ground which is then absorbed by the plants again.

Activity 1) Identify items that are part of the Food Chain in your backyard.

2) Discuss what may happen if you change any of those items.

3) Draw a picture of the Food Chain you identify and submit through the Meigs Point
