KINKY FRIEDMAN!In concertMay 8th

The word is out! Laurie Schaeffer and Greg Abel (Schaeff-Abel Productions) are bringing KINKY FRIEDMAN to the Sebastopol Grange on Friday evening, May 8th! We’ve seen this humorist and singer-songwriter perform in our area before, and we were impressed! He is Laurie Schaeffer’s ultimate personal choice of entertainment for celebrating Greg Abel’s and her own birthday at the Sebastopol Grange.

Kinky Friedman is hilarious as a performer, and to say his life has been an interesting ride is an understatement! This outspoken character has written offbeat detective novels, has been a Peace Corps Volunteer, is active with animal protec-tion, became known in the Austin music scene for material that is not necessarily politically correct and, amazingly, he earned 500,000+ votes when he ran for Texas governor in 006! You will have to decide where the humor is, and the sarcasm and his ultimate honesty, as he focuses on various societal flaws or some ironic life issue that he’s showcasing. He’s a wild man whose shows are lots of fun, totally captivating, thought provoking, and just really entertaining. He is “larger than life.” Plan to laugh a LOT!

Greg Abel is himself a viable singer-songwriter, and you will be able to listen to him in a rare pub-lic appearance, as he opens the May 8th show.

See if tickets are still available at either The Last Record Store or Sunnyside Cottage, both in Santa Rosa, or check out www.northbaylive.com

In Memory: Caroline Bonnet

We lament the passing of a wonderful North Bay music maker. Caroline Bonnet unexpectedly passed away earlier this year. She was a driving force in local Shape-Note or Sacred Harp singing. Caroline founded the Healdsburg Sacred Harp group about three years ago wtih Jack Ziegler. Her love of music, especially a capella singing, brought her friendship with many like-minded folks over the years. She will be missed. Caroline’s voice and some of her favorite music can be heard on a CD Ain’t Got Long by the group “Journey Home”. Ain’t Got Long is available on CD Baby and www.riggy.com.
