the use of novel food technologies; and the production
and marketing of regional and organic products.
The aim of the Cluster is to promote existing native
competencies in the area of food production, technologies
and marketing and to enable networking among industry
participants. These activities will help companies remain
economically viable in the long term and enhance their
international competitiveness.
To achieve its goals, the Food Cluster of Lower Austria
initiates and coordinates cooperation revolving around
food quality, food safety as well as organic and regional
products, both between companies but also between
companies and R&D facilities.

The success of a cluster depends on active and innov ative companies. Because when ever dedicated companies are prepared to participate in new devel-opments and pioneering projects and to engage in cross-company operational innovation, the success of Cluster work is ensured.
The Cluster team is made up of experts from the food industry with experience in the implementation and management of cooperative projects. In strategic matters the team is supported by an expert advisory board. Here, Cluster companies are represented in the same way that relevant institutions and departments of the province of Lower Austria are.
The Food Cluster of Lower Austria is backed andfinanced by Lower Austria‘s Economic and Agri-cultural Departments as well as by business and tradepartners. ecoplus, the business agency of Lower Austria, is responsible for the implementation of Cluster initiatives and activities.
Food Quality and Safety
The basic ingredients for premium foodstuffs are quality,safety and traceability. The presence of these ingredientsforms the foundation for success of operations but alsoensures the competitiveness of companies. In the develop-ment of new products, quality expectations must be ful-filled on the one hand, but on the other, these new food products must meet existing consumer demands, sell well and thus bring increased turnover and profit to their pro-ducers. The ultimate goal is the production of high-qualityfood in accordance with the most current and modernscientific standards.
The Cluster team promotes the development and intro-duction of innovative products, new technologies and processes. The Food Cluster of Lower Austria supports its partner operations in the fulfillment of legal requirements and industry-specific standards. Through participation in professional events and qualification initiatives, the skills and competence of each employee are expanded upon.
