Bhagyanagar Foods etc. He stressed that problem of rancidity of millets has been

solved which have resulted in extended shelf life of the millets. He was also of the view

that the scope of this projects may also be extended in states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra

and Gujarat as these states are major producer of millets.

• Joint Secretary (Crops) in his concluding remarks stated that in spite of

all the efforts, the area under coarse cereals except maize is declining in the country ..

The Central Government has allowed the states to procure coarse cereals. Centres of

Excellence (CoEs) for different millets have developed and standardized numbers of

recipes which is encouraging but these have not become very popular. Efforts should be

made to popularize these recipes through mass media like television shows, spreading

awareness about these recipes to big food companies who can market these on large

scale. The CoEs should continue to popularize these recipes and develop new recipes as

may be demanded by food chains.
