Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF)
EmployerswhoareregisteredwithPembangunanSumberManusiaBerhad(PSMB)areeligiblefortraininggrantsthroughthevariousschemesavailableundertheHRDF.Theschemesareasfollows:
• SBL SchemeEmployerscanclaimreimbursementfromHRDFuponcompletionofprogramme.However,approvalfromPSMBisrequiredpriortocommencementofprogrammebycompletingFormPSMB/PGL/1/09.Training grants can be considered for all typesof training programmes (both in-house and external) for the retraining and skillsupgradingofemployeesrelevanttotheneedsofemployees.
• SBL-KHAS SchemeSimilar to the PERLA scheme but approval from PSMB is required prior tocommencement of programme by completing Form PSMB/PGL/1/09. EmployersmustsubmitFormPSMB/SBL-KHAS/T2/09toFMMInstitutepriortocommencementofprogramme.
SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp)Underthisscheme,atotalof35SMEsSkillsUpgradingProgrammeswereapprovedbySMECorporationMalaysiatobeconductedforSMEssoastoenjoythe70%SMEsSkillsUpgradingGrant.
Eligibility to SMEs Skills Upgrading Programmes
• Manufacturingsector(includingagricultural-basedindustries)andmanufacturing-relatedservices-annualsalesvalueisnotmorethanRM50millionorwithlessthan200full-timeemployees.
• Servicessector(includingICT)–annualsalesvalueisnotmorethanRM20millionorwithlessthan75full-timeemployees.
• SMEsmustberegisteredundertheCompaniesAct1965(PrivateLimitedcompa-nies)ortheRegistrationofBusinessAct1956(Enterprisecompanies)withmajorityMalaysianshareholders(minimum60%).
• SMECompaniesinthemanufacturingsectormustpossesstheLicensefromtheLocalCouncilandManufacturingLicense(ifapplicable).SMEcompaniesintheservicesectormustpossesBusinessLicenseorletteroflicenseexemptionfromlocalauthority/governmentorregistrationdocumentwithlegalprofessionalbodytoconfirmbusinessactivitiesarelegal.
SMEswhocontributetotheHRDFcanalsoapplyfortraininggrantsunderthevariousschemesavailableundertheHRDF.TheSMEsSkillsUpgradingProgrammescanalsobeconductedonin-housebasis.

A chemicalhazard can be defined as any chemicalsubstance that is capable of causing bodilyharm,disease,illnessordeath,oriscapableofcausingachangeinaperson’sbehavior,oradecreaseintheirmentalalertness.Chemicalhazardsareconsideredmuchmoredifficult to identify andassess thanphysicalhazards, especially in regards to their longtermeffectsonhumanhealth.It is the duty of employer to take actionto control chemicals hazardous to health,through progressive application of controlmeasures in order to reduce the exposurelevel of employees to the lowest practicallevel.Thiscoursewillelaborateandexplainthe above subject.
