Flue gas temperature is continuously displayed using a highly visible backlit LCD display. An intuitive bargraph display and alarm messages provide clear stack temperature status. Bargraph scaling, alarm setpoints, and time delays are all field selectable. All adjustments can be made directly from the faceplate of the instruments by scrolling through user friendly, English language menus. The Type J thermocouple assembly is constructed of a seal welded inconel sheath for corrosion protection, and can be directly installed in the boiler's flue gas outlet. The unit includes a ½" male NPT process connection, cast iron head with thermal block, and ½" female NPT electrical connection. Alarm SequenceBargraphandnumericdisplayscontinuouslyindicatethefluegastemperature.Ifthefluegastemperatureexceedsthewarningsetpointformorethan30seconds(adjustable),thebargraphblinks,the“warning”messageappears,andthe alarm relay energizes. If the flue gas temperaturecontinuestoincreaseandexceedstheshutdownsetpointformorethan30seconds(adjustable),thebargraphblinks,the“shutdown”messageappears,theshutdownrelayde-energizesandlatchesinto“manualreset”mode.TheburnershutsdowniftheJC-15D shutdownrelayiswiredintotheburnerinterlocks.Theshutdownrelayremainsde-energizedandthe“shutdown”messageremainsonthedisplayuntiltheoperatorpressesthe“reset”pushbutton.

Thealarmrelaycanbeusedtoactivateanexternalbellorhorn.Thealarmrelayde-energizeswhenthe“warning”and“shutdown”alarmsarebothinactive.Alternately,pressingtheJC-15D “alarmsilence”pushbutton,orenergizingthe120VACalarmsilenceinput,oraModbuscommandcande-energizethealarmrelayinordertosilenceanaudiblealarm.

Suggested SpecificationsProvidearemotereadingmicroprocessor-basedfluegastemperature alarmand indicating instrument anda fluegas temperature sensor assembly for each boiler.Theinstrumentshallprovideafluegastemperaturedisplayinengineeringunits,“inefficient”operationwarningindication,“overheat” operating condition indication and alarmcontacts.TheInstrumentshallcontinuouslyindicatefluegastemperatureonahighlyvisiblebacklitLCDdisplay.Provideanintegralorseparate4inch,0.5%resolution(minimum)bargraph display in engineering unitswith visual alarmsetpointindication.Providean“alarmsilence”and“manualreset”pushbuttonandtwo10ampererelays.Thehousingshallbepanelmountable,fullygasketedwithNEMA4frontface.Alladjustmentsshallbemadefromthefrontpaneldisplayinengineeringunits.Noexternalconfigurationtoolsshallberequired.TheInstrumentshallprovide:coldjunctioncompensationandupscalethermocouplebreakprotection.Theinstrumentshallincludealarmmessagesasfollows:Whenfluegastemperatureexceedsthe“warning”setpointformorethan30seconds(adjustable),thebargraphshallblink, and the “warning”message shall appear and an“alarm”relayenergizesandifwiredtoanalarmcircuitanalarmisactivated.Ifthefluegastemperaturecontinuestoincreaseandexceedsthe“shutdown”setpointformorethan30seconds(adjustable),thebargraphblinks,the“shutdown”messageappears,the“shutdown”relayde-energizesandlatches into the “manual reset”mode. If the “shutdown”relayiswiredintotheburnerinterlocks,theburnershutsdown.The “shutdown” relay remains de-energized andthe “shutdown”message remainon thedisplayuntil theoperatorpressestheintegral“reset”pushbutton.

ProvideaFlueGasTemperatureSensorassemblyforeachboiler.Thesensorassemblyshallinclude:iron/constantanISATypeJ thermocouple, inconelsheath,½"maleNPTprocess connection, cast iron headand a 20" insertionlength.Extensionleadwireshallbeonecontinuouslengthof20gaugesISATypeJXwithPVCinsulation.Theassemblyshallbeinstalledintheboileroutletbeforeanydamperorfaninaccordancewithmanufacturerssuggestedinstallationinstructions.TheinstrumentshallincludeaRS485Modbusnetworkinterfaceanda4-20mADCretransmitoutputtocommunicate toa futureDataAcquisitionSystem(DAS)or BuildingAutomationSystem (BAS).The Instrumentshall bemanufactured and labeled in accordancewithUL508requirements(CSAC22.2#14foruseinCanada).InspectionandlabelingshallbesupervisedbyULorotherOSHAapprovedNationallyRecognizedTestLab(NRTL).TheFlueGasTemperatureMonitoring,ControlandAlarmSystemshallbePreferredInstruments,Danbury,CT,Model JC-15D,with104087DThermocoupleAssembly.
