Inflammatory Dermatopathology: What the Surgical Pathologist Needs to Know

Saturday, February 23 | 8:30-9:30 PM

Interactive Microscopy: Digital Pathology

Sunday, February 24 | 9:15-10:45 AM

Steven D. Billings, MDProfessor of PathologyCleveland Clinic, Lerner College of MedicineCleveland, OH

Marilyn Bui, MD, PhDScientific Director of Analytic Microscopy CoreSection Head of Bone and Soft Tissue PathologyDirector of Cytopathology Fellowship President of Medical StaffMoffitt Cancer CenterTampa, FL

Join Dr. Steven Billings from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine for a stimulating presentation on inflammatory dermatopathology. This lecture will cover inflammatory diseases including commonly encountered diseases of the skin seen in routine surgical pathology and critically important diseases every pathologist needs to know.

This lecture is composed of two parts. In the first 30 minutes, the useful resources, guides and guidelines available in Digital Pathology for practicing pathologists will be addressed. In the next 60 minutes, using whole slide imaging of five cases, some common diagnostic pitfalls in soft tissue and bone pathology that are encountered by general surgical pathologists will be illustrated. Applying an algorithmic approach, this integrative session will empower pathologists to delivery high quality care by overcoming these diagnostic pitfalls and ultimately provide timely and accurate diagnostic, prognostic and predictive information to the clinical team.
