Preparation:Tips from Gisele: Since I used the stencil for the fl ower cut outs, I did not need to transfer any patterns for the detail I used the shape of the fl ower petals to guide me along with dots and easy shapes. Feel free to transfer the patterns provided if needed.

Using Fine Sponge Dabber dipped into Everlasting Chalky Finish, begin smoothing paint over the pieces of the Scroll Stand. Push the paint into the overlap wire areas. Dry and apply a sec-ond coat. Using the Course Sponge Dabber and a mix of Sapphire + Everlasting + a little touch of Payne’s Grey, dab color onto the stand to add interest. Cut a piece of Roc-Lon 14” x 15”. Using 1” Glaze Brush, basecoat Roc-Lon pieces with 3 coats Ever-lasting Chalk paint on both sides. Let dry.1

Cut Roclon piece 6-1/2“ x 14-1/2” and mark a notch from the bottom of the frame 3/8”H x 2”H and cut out the notch. Measure 1-1/4” from the bottom edge and add a line with pencil and an-other from the top 1” down. These lines will be your fold/glue lines for later .Cut another piece of 7-1/2” x 7-1/2” and use the fl oral stencil and pencil to trace fl owers to cut out.Tips for Basing: When basecoating, use the larg-est brush for the area for smooth coverage. Work the paint into the brush and apply it in a slip slap motion to fi ll in on the “fabric like” surface of the Roc-Lon .

Stencil Instructions: Create a mix of Sapphire + Payne’s Grey + Ev-erlasting to create a softened blue color. (Keep some of this mix for later-we will call it the Blue Mix) Place Roc-Lon banner on fl at surface and position the Flowers & Stems stencil over Roc-Lon and secure with painter’s tape. Use Rough Stippling brush dabber dipped in mix and tap off excess paint on palette. This will create a soft stippled look for the background fl owers. Tap color lightly in open areas of the stencil-you are

not looking for full coverage. Remove stencil and let dry. Meanwhile, clean stencil and dabber.

Overcoat entire banner with one coat of Everlasting to dull.Line up the bottom plastic part of the Welcome lettering stencil with the top of notches along the bottom of the Roc-Lon-this will give you the perfect position for the welcome lettering. Using the pencil, make a little mark for the lettering and lift. Using the Glaze Brush, slipslap a couple of coats of the chalky paint over the fl owers that will be in the lettering section to dull so they will not compete with the lettering. Let dry.Create another mix of Sapphire +Payne’s Grey + Everlasting, that is a little darker than the original stenciled fl owers. Using the Fine Sponge Dabber, dip into the color on the palette and tap excess in a clean section of the palette. Using a light touch, tap the color into the open sections of the word-ing. Let dry and repeat. Continue with light layers of stenciling until full coverage is achieved. Remove stencil and clean pouncer and stencil with water and brush cleaner. Measure a 1/8” border on each side of the banner and tape off to create side edges. Using Fine Sponge Dabber, smooth color on each edge and let dry. Remove tape. Using stylus, add dots along border using Everlasting. Shading tips: Use the largest Curved Flat according to the area that you will be shading. I used the largest one (#12) for the larger petals and letter shading, and the #6 for the tiny detail shades. Wet the brush in your water and tap on paper towel to remove excess water. Wipe water bubbles off the metal ferrule and load fl at side of the Curved Flat with color. Flatten the brush on your palette and blend in a straight line both directions to blend the color in the brush. Use the blended color for shading.

Painting Instructions:Lettering is shaded outside the right side of each part of the letters with blue mix. Outline right edges on each letter with thinned Payne’s Grey and Flora Round. Add a little Everlasting to the blue mix and add dots on letters. Set banner aside to work on fl owers.Flowers:Tip: It is easier to shade all of the fl ower petals with the blue mix before you cut them out for the detail painting. This allows you to go out-side the lines with your shading, but it will look perfect after you cut them out. Shade all of the petal ends with a mix of Sapphire + Paynes + Everlasting. (Original Blue Mix).Lightly apply detail pattern lines to the fl owers with Gray Graphite if needed. (Freehanding is easier!!)

Flower #1Base small fl ower with Blue Mix. Using Flora Round loaded in Everlasting Chalky Finish, add lines from the edges pulling toward the center. Add a circle of dots with your stylus and Ever-lasting Chalky Finish. Larger fl ower: Use thinned blue mix and the Flora Round, to add lines from the outside edges of the petals toward the cen-ter. Add a little Payne’s Grey to the mix and re-stroke the lines to deepen beginning from center and pulling toward the edges.

Flower #2Center Flower: Add curved line a little inside the petal edges with blue mix. Add a dot inside each curved section and in the middle with same mix. Add a tiny Payne’s Grey dot inside each dot when dry. Large Flower: Using blue mix and Flora Round, add a wide stripe on each petal. Add an underline of Payne’s Gray along the bottom of each stripe. Using the same blue mix, create one-stroke teardrop on each petal and lightly add shaped lines to each side of the tear-drop, leaving a little gap between the teardrop. Mix a little Everlasting Chalky Finish to the blue mix and using stylus add at the top of each tear drop. Add an overstroke highlight dot to each dot with straight Everlasting.

Flower #3Center fl ower has edges outlined in from the

edges with thinned Blue Mix. Transfer Center design and line with blue mix. Deepen lines if necessary with Payne’s Grey. Add dots with tip of Flora Round by tapping in thinned blue mix. Shade around design with Blue mix + Everlasting to keep soft. Large Flower: Add lines with blue mix + a little Payne’s Grey. Add dots with Flora Round tipped in this same thinned mix.

Flower #4Small Center: Add teardrops inside each petal with blue mix. Use stylus to add dots with Payne’s Grey between tear drops and in the center. Add additional highlight dots inside tear-drops and dots with same mix + Everlasting. Middle Center. Dots are blue mix. Secondary dots are blue mix + Everlasting. Top dot has a little more Everlasting added for highlight. Large Flower: Base inside petal areas in a tri-angle shape leaving a gap from the edges of each petal. Add stripes of Everlasting on each triangle petal. Underline the white stripes and outside each petal with Payne’s Grey.

Finishing:Finish with several light coats of DecoArt Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher – Matte to all sides of the Roc-Lon banner, fl owers and stand, drying be-tween each coat.

Apply double sided pop dots to the back of the fl ower sections, stacking as needed and attach to the banner. When dry, fold over edges of the banner on the pre marked lines and attach to stand. Add additional pop dots to the top and bottom edges of the banner and loop over the wire stand. Attach feet and top header as shown on directions included in the stand.
