Letter from the EditorsBy Mick and Thomas

The disarmament is still being deeply debated amongst our fellow Americans. The people that are against it are absolutely wrong. The reduction of weapons amongst countries has ultimately benefited the world as a whole. We have yearned for world peace and the disarmament is only helping to promote it.

Secretary of State Charles Evan Hughes was genius for offering to scrap 30 U.S. warships first. It has shown the rest of the world the United States is serious about world peace. The other nations in the Washington Naval Conference were soon convinced to scrap some of their own ships and reduce the size of their navies.

Many men and women of the United States are concerned that military ambitions will not be so easily contained. They are right, it will be hard to contain, however the disarmament takes care of the biggest problem; large warships. It does not affect the amount of submarines and smaller vessels nations participating in the disarmament are allowed to have. This is a good thing because it takes out the big problem, but leaves a good amount of security for the countries involved.

There are some downsides to the disarmament. One of these downsides is 90,000 people helped pay to build the warships that the disarmament would destroy. They argue the warships should be put to good use, not just scrapped without seeing some action first. However, getting one big step closer to world peace outweighs the cost and downsides of the disarmament.

Science VS Religion

Science By Natalie Parker

The debate over the history of the human race has grown to an argument to prove if ones beliefs are true or false. The science proven by Thomas Scopes, a teacher in Dayton, Tennessee, that the evolution of humans was proven and it was thought that humans were not created by god.

He was arrested for teaching his students this idea, because it violated the Butler Act. This act prohibited the teaching of evolution of man and people thought the christian beliefs were being violated. It was scientifically proven that humans didn’t “show up” out of thin air and that science is shown to be true.

Religion By Bri Benner.

I fail to believe me or any of my children were made from any type of beast. As this here bible says: Colossians 1:16 for him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things were created through him and for him. now i believe this here scoped man should be locked up for breaking the law and putting false information out there for all to hear and see.

Rural Vs. Urban

Rural By Leah Elliott

The City life is just not how it used to be. Them going out at night and dancin’ and drinkin. Sometimes I wonder how they make a living. Dem “flapper” gals, if that’s they call it nowadays are gonna ruin the daily traditional life of us.

The men are the ones who are doing the work while I stay at home and take care of the kids. I doubt any of those city people know how to raise a gosh darn child.

Urban By Caecilia Shoppa

I think living in the urban streets of New York is the berries! Dancing all night and sleeping all day, what a life! Those rural folk don't know what they are missing out on! Besides we have the darb music and best giggle juice out there! Who would want to get with a keen young woman or a macho man and have a whoopee?

The best part about the city life is all the freedom a girls got! I can gladly walk around showing off my gams and bright colors no problem! Gosh, those rural appleknockers haven't got the slightest on what they are missing out on.

Wets VS. DrysWets By Mick Bartelme

Us Wets oppose the prohibition. We have been growing since we started in small number. We are mainly in large cities and immigrant communities. We believe that drinking is not sinful. Those drys got it all wrong. One of the first miracles Jesus performed was turning water into wine.Millions of us law-abiding citizens want to drink. Bootlegging and bathtub gin is on the rise. Bootlegging has become a multi-billion dollar business and started a dangerous but golden opportunity for dirty crooks. Thousands of bars are being closed only to be replaced by twice the amount of juice joints. The Prohibition Act just doesn’t add up.

Drys By Thomas Beckett

There is too much crime because firearms are easy to access and are more deadly. Law enforcement is also at a low, most of them drinking like the rest. Getting rid of alcohol creates less drunkards in the streets and alleyways. This will make less accidents and crime rates will lower significantly. Being drunk is also sinful and wrong spiritually and socially. Hooch is everywhere, and people will do anything for the dog in the hair. The amount of ossified people is just too high.

Motion Pictures:Talkies are the future of movies!

Al Jolson in his lead role as Jackie Rabinowitz

Page 10

Whether it’s a date with the doll or a night out with the bunch, it’s time to head over the petting parlor! Talkies have taken the world by storm with singing and music that plays inside the movie.

A few months ago on October 6, 1927, the picture shown was called The Jazz Singer , Starring Al Jolson. He plays Jackie Rabinowitz, the son of a Jewish Cantor who dreams of being a singer. He must turn against his father to do what he really loves. For the first time ever, Jackie was able to sing and talk inside the movie. No more phonographs playing in the background. No more subtitles that took a lifetime to read!

The Jazz singer was a glimpse of how we can change to a more interesting and make all the challenges of the past disappear. These movies have made people forget the difficult events in their life. These movies are the perfect events for dates, family get togethers, and overall a fun time for all.

The future of motion picture took it’sfirst few steps to what we will see. It is so exciting to see what directors will have planned next year! We are excited to see what the future or motion picture holds! We hope to see you there!

Gaining Money QuickYou may be wondering what could possibly be the best

way to keep your money in check, in today's bustling economy just that is as simple as reciting your alphabet. From using stocks to having a credit card. It’s just that simple.

“Stocks” can be quite an intimidating word, but it’s actually a lot more simple than you’d think. Also by being a stockholder you give a company money and you get your money back with interest which is given through how much they sell. So while giving them some of your money you can earn more than twice as much as you gave them!

Before, jobs didn't pay nearly as much as they do now. Since then, the wages have been raised dramatically and people are making more money. After gaining this money you can put it into the stock market and make much much more! Now you will be able to make millions.

There’s a new thing going around called a credit card. Credit cards are the new darb thing that you could have to use. With them you can buy something right then and there! You can buy now and pay later. “Now you don’t have to walk around with cash in your hands, it makes life swell.” As people are saying nowadays.

Page 12

Moments of the Decade After The World War people stopped unionizing

because the general public was against it, due to the fact that they didn’t get necessities and feared socialist and communist were behind them. Groups have been organized to the public is against them, even attacking members.

In the beginning of the 1920s immigration rates increased dramatically. Approximately 110,000 people moved to the U.S. in 1919, and by 1920 it had increased to 430,000. By 1921 it has increased to 800,000. The native people of the U.S. saw the new immigrants as a threat to their livelihood so they passed the Emergency Quota Act of 1921 meaning only 3 percent of the immigrants from that country living in the united states at the time were allowed in.

The Ku Klux Klan was formed in 1915 by William J. Simmons, a former preacher. He would only allow native born white protestants in to his group. The Klan grew to five million members by 1923. The Klan members wore white robes, and would burn crosses, hold dogmatic rituals, and organized mass demonstrations to to protect the American life form from African Americans, Roman Catholic, Jewish, and immigrant “corruption”.

Everybody is talking about George Herman “Babe” Ruth Jr. The hard-boiled man has a love for zest life, and his dramatic rise from humble beginnings makes him impossible not to chat about. He is an incredibly humble man, not letting the dough he makes change his personality. The Babe makes the game incredibly more exciting. He makes hitting home-runs a more common part of the game. The man has already broken the record for most bases on balls and home-runs hit in a season.Babe Ruth has become incredibly famous and a national icon. America wants to know everything about this man and his fellow athletes. He’s attracted so many fans they nicknamed the 1923 Yankee Stadium “the house Ruth built.”

The Babe has immensely helped the growth of spectator sports. Much of America’s leisurely time and dough is now being spent on watching good ol’ ball games around the country. Major League Baseball teams are gaining many loyal fans, especially the Yankees.Another aspect greatly affecting spectator sports mass media. Millions of American’s tune in to radio broadcasts to listen to the announcer upchuck as much information about what is happening as he possibly can. Magazines and newspapers all across the country are advertising big games and giving final results of yesterday’s big game.

Presidents of the DecadeBy Thomas Beckett

Socialist and Progressive political parties have been growing and when the government is challenged against these parties they have been put in jail and some have even been killed by protesters against the parties. If you support one of these groups, watch your backs.

We’ve released a report on the recent Presidents. President Harding was elected and helped by his high-power Republican friends. They betrayed him in The Teapot Dome Scandal, where former Secretary of the Interior and friend of Harding, Albert Fall, sold oil reserves in California and Wyoming to two companies that paid him $360,000 in bribes for the land. Harding died from a heart attack in 1923 on a tour of The West shortly after the scandal. Our former Vice President was promoted.

President Calvin Coolidge took office in 1923. He is nicknamed “Silent Cal” because of his quiet nature. He shows good nature, hard work, integrity, and thriftiness and won re-election in 1924. He works to cut taxes and is stopping the government to spending money when unnecessary. After The World War he worked on The League of Nations. On vacation at the end of the Presidency between 1924 and 1928 Coolidge stated that he would not run for re-election.

In the Presidential election next year, Herbert Hoover will possibly run for office. If he does, I assume he will be a great President; he’s a man who strongly is against the poverty that’s still in the cities and especially in rural areas.

Interview with Charles Lindbergh

Q: What did it feel like when you first tried barnstorming?A: It was an exhilarating feeling, you could feel like you’re in eminent danger, yet you aren’t always at danger.Q: What was it like to be on top of a plane while it was flying?A: It was terrifying at times, but at others you were attached to the plane with cables that were unable to be seen by the spectators watching.

Q: Were there times where you thought you were going to die while barnstorming?A: Walking from wingtip to wingtip because you’re not being held onto the plane by anything and you could fall at any moment if you’re not careful.Q: What was it like to successfully complete an act?A: It’s extremely relieving to complete an act because you realize that you just survived a death defying stunt.

Page 20

Lindberg Interview (continued)

Q: When did you realize being a pilot would be your dream? A: When I saw what barnstormers could do I started going to school to become a pilot

Q: Have you ever flown at night?A: Yes, I have and when you do, you are surrounded by darkness except for the light illuminated by the moon and cities.Q: What was it like to fly from New York, over the Atlantic, and then get to Paris? A: It was terrifying when it got dark because you didn’t know where you were going most of the time and you’re just surrounded by darkness.

Q: How long did that flight take? A: It took a long, grueling 20 hours and 21 minutes.

Q: After that great accomplishment, what did you do?A: I started to take mail from St. Louis to Chicago.

Q: When taking the mail, what did it feel like having to be greatly trusted to get the mail there on time? A: It wasn’t too much of a burden to handle but I’d feel better when I got the mail there on time.
