@ Every fall my husband’s parents come in from out of town and they love going out to eat. My father in law used to own a restaurant in the hill neighborhood in St. Louis, and absolutely hates chain restaurants so we always look for locally owned spots. So we selected a locally owned restaurant we had heard good things about, Flapjack’s Cow Shed. My husband and I both remember coming to the Cow Shed back in the day for a Purple Cow. For those of you who don’t know or can’t remember a Pur- ple Cow is a sort of grape slushy drink that is huge and tastes great. Flapjack’s keeps alive some of the memories of the old Cow Shed, but it is obvious they have done a great deal of work to clean up and brighten up the restaurant and really give it an overall facelift from the inside out. My father in law loved the family home cooking feel that you get from the moment you walk in the door. Flapjack’s is located just south of the four lane on highway 67. We love the location because there aren’t very many restaurants on the south end of Poplar Bluff, and it was near the movie theater. Once you arrive you are seated and a we enjoyed being waited on by one of our friend’s children. She did a great job and we were able to catch up with her. I always like it when locally owned places hire local young people. We are thrilled that we happened to come into Flapjack’s on Saturday night when they were serving their prime rib special. Needless to say the four of us had the prime rib, and it was outstanding. While the entrée was great we also enjoyed the sides, and the tea was top notch. I really liked the portions which were right up our alley. If you leave Flapjack’s after eating the prime rib special then it is really your fault. One of the best things about Flapjack’s is your entire family can eat for under $30 which is great for people on a budget like us. Oh and by the way, although there are some welcome changes from the old Cow Shed….they still have a great Purple Cow! Flapjack’s Cow Shed 3067 S.
