General Description The FKB VCO-19 Wall Gates have the function of blocking and / or controlling the flow of fluids, in a simple

and economical way. They are compact and light equipment for installation directly into concrete with easy

operation and water tightness with high versatility and durability. Designed according to the need of each

application, FKB Penstocks are entire provided, including all the accessories as: fixation kit, extensions,

pedestal, sensors, etc., ready to be installed and operated.

Constructive Description

Standard Construction

NBR 8883, AWWA C561, DIN 19569-4 and/or FKB standards/expertise.

All standards are respected according to their last revision.

Sealing Rules

FKB gates are dimensioned and manufactured to meet tightness 100% higher than the adopted construction

standard.

Body Structure

Constructed of flat steel and reinforced, through shaped plates and / or structural profiles, so that it is prepared

for laying or direct casting to the concrete, eliminating the need for a fixing frame.

The Structural Framework can be manufactured as a single piece and rigid enough so that it does not deform

during transportation, installation and operation. Or it can be dismountable and mountable by means of

prisoners, in order to allow easy and quick installation.

Designed and dimensioned in the minimum factor 4 of safety regarding the traction and minimum factor 2 for

the compression and shear.

Penstock (Drawer)

Constructed of flat steel and reinforced, through shaped plates and / or structural profiles, so that the

maximum deflection does not exceed 1/720 or 1/16", whichever is less, when the gate is subjected to a

maximum load.

Designed and dimensioned in the minimum factor 4 of safety regarding the traction and minimum factor 2 for

the compression and shear.

Sliding Guides

The guides are made with UHMW (Ultra High Density Polyethylene) and are designed to support at least 2/3

the height of the gate in the fully open position and NO metal / metal contact, which guarantees low coefficient

of friction, light lifting and eliminates the possibility of its locking and / or misalignment.

Side Sealing

Made of UHMW (Polyethylene of Ultra High Molecular Density), with compression cord made with elastomer,

in order to guarantee 100% watertightness superior to the Standards of Construction for long period.

Superior Sealing

Made of UHMW (Polyethylene of Ultra High Molecular Density), with compression cord made with elastomer,

in order to guarantee 100% watertightness superior to the Standards of Construction for long period.

Bottom Sealing (Groundsill)

Made of soft elastomer, the groundsill has the same level of the passage / channel, so that the fluid carries the

solids that may eventually deposit on it. The tightness of the bottom sealing is given due to the compression of

the drawer with the seat against the bottom of the structural frame.

Seat Sealing (When Applicable)

Made of soft elastomer, prepared for laying directly on the concrete without need of fixing frame and assimilate

small deformities of up to 3mm.

Actuation Stem and Extension

Made of Stainless Steel and designed for:

Support the operation of the Penstock under maximum hydraulic load;

Dimensioned in the minimum safety factor 5;

Designed to transmit at least 2 times the output torque of the manual mechanism and 1.5 times the

output torque of the Electric, Hydraulic or Pneumatic Actuator.

Notice:

Penstocks which have a width of more than 1,200mm and a height of less than half its height shall be

fabricated with a Double Tandem Shaft System, from which it shall ensure single and simultaneous drive by

both shafts, and shall not allow misalignment and displacement of the drawer during its operation.

Gloves (Actuation and/or Extension Stem Connections)

Made of Stainless Steel, in order to make the connection of the stems and avoid any possibility of rotation or

locking.

Intermediate Bearing

Made of Stainless Steel, to ensure perfect alignment of the stem, penstock and drive, and avoid any possibility

of buckling of the extension stem.

Actuators

Hand Wheel: Designed to operate the penstock under maximum pressure with application of manual effort in

the mechanism up to 18.15 kgf (178N). In case of using Gear Box, it will be sized for the force, at least, 1.5

times of the maximum torque required for opening and / or closing the sluice under maximum pressure.

Pneumatic Actuator, Hydraulic or Electric: Designed for the force, at least, 1.5 times of the maximum

torque required for opening and / or closing the sluice under maximum pressure.
