What's behind the name?The Primus Pilus, or First Spear, was the Senior Centurion

of a Roman Legion.

Centurions were the guardians of Rome. At the height of

the Roman Republic there were over five thousand qualifiedRoman Centurions in the Legions. To be a Centurion

required that, in a mostly illiterate society, one be able

to read and write clearly, to be able to convey and create

orders, to be capable of not only performing every skill

of a Roman soldier but to teach every skill of a Roman

soldier. Becoming a Centurion required intense physical

ability, courage beyond the norm, years of sacrifice and

a total devotion to the philosophy which was Rome.

When Rome fell to barbarian invaders, there were fewer

than five hundred qualified Centurions. Not because Rome

had fewer people but because it had fewer people willing

to make sacrifices.

design philosophyThe tactical equipment put forth by FirstSpear is designed to function interactively as a fighting

system. By utiliing the equipment as a system, an overall weight reduction, weight transfer

within the US Inventory as well as those of other friendly foreign nations that also feel evil

is worthy of punishment.

FirstSpear achieves this relationship by putting complete focus on the Users needs and their

overarching requirements. Each subcomponent of the overall system integrates field feedback

from concept development through rapid prototyping, and ultimately production and delivery.Impact to the overall weight, form, function and durability is considered in every detail down

to fabric and hardware selection.

Platforms, like the Sleeper, SICR & OAGRE are designed with direct input from professional

Users; built to be durable, lightweight, and highly functional. FirstSpear incorporates performance

driven features that execute both as stand-alone items or integrated into an overarching individual

equipment and personal protection system. This system will lower overall weight, reduce bulk off

the silhouette contributing to more effective signature suppression and take into account the

manipulations required that will benefit operational enhancement.

Weight! There are several philosophies on dealing with weight as it applies to load carriage.Some development has occurred in lightweight materials, but these tend to sacrificeperformance. Other developments have taken place in load transfer by shifting weightaround, but they reduce flexibility while increasing heat retention, bulk and even overallload. FirstSpear has taken a different approach. We listened to the Users and decidedto eliminate the weight and sacrifice nothing.

In the design assessment of current pouch attachment systems, FirstSpear recogniedthat the major weight parasite on both the platforms and the attaching pockets is the yardsof bulk nylon, snaps and polymer stiffener. The FirstSpear 6/12 technology eliminatesthese components and achieves a 20%-4 0% reduction in weight per standard Assaulterconfiguration when compared to current pocket attachment systems.

The FirstSpear team invested more than a year developing and testing the FirstSpear6/12 Pocket Attachment System. It utilies state of the ar t fabric technologies to delivera completely modular system, compatible with standard MOL LE pockets. From adhesive

heat-set backing to laser cut precision attachment points, the 6/12 system is a completelynew, design-engineered solution that meets the need for modular, lightweight load-carriageplatforms and pockets.

Additionally, 6/12 provides greater fabric flexibility on unarmored platforms and tightermounting of pockets to create a cleaner silhouette that aides in enhanced signature managementand mobility. The 6/12 platform face is completely slick when pockets are removed andallows for easy management of communications cables and wires.

ning raid, Strandhgg was one of the first formalized battle

inflatable flotation device specifically designed forwarfighters, combat swimmers, and/or maritimeairborne operations personnel. It has been designedand tested for use during egress from a submergedstructure of any type.
