Subcommittee’s Task

• Will a 3 or 4 bay fire station fit on the sites under consideration?

• Footprint (sq. ft. and acres) – 0.8 acre minimum

• Buffer (sq. ft. and acres) – 1 to 1.5 acres to provide buffer zone

• Parking Spaces for approx. 12 cars

• Meet current and future personnel needs = 2 or 3 Double Bunk Rooms

8 Single Bunk Rooms

• Exits onto major arterial street or Blvd.

• Design allows for “Safe Haven” concept

• Drive-thru apparatus bay

• 45 ft. front/rear apron so apparatus can be outside

• Accommodate fuel pump/pumping station

- Exits onto major arterial street (only two-lanes)

- Eliminates/reduces existing green space

3. Current Fire Station 8 Site and Adjacent Properties – Viable Option- Meets minimum size requirement w/ land acquisition

• Addresses most pressing need in northern part of county

• Variety of options for location: Water Pump Station at Old Glebe Rd. & Military Rd; near Madison Community Center, etc.
