We held our September Phlocking at the Margaritaville Tiki Bar and Dining. We might have been small in numbers, but we

were big in mingling. Forty-seven (47) members signed in this month. The weather was perfect unlike the last meeting we held there.

The “September School Supplies Drive” was a huge success. In case you missed the story in last months Finlines, we decided to collect money this year and split it among our five (5) Parrot Head Teachers. Our generous crowd contributed $308. Parrot Heads Participate in the Alzheimer’s Walk

The “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” is always a great time not to mention it’s for an even greater cause! What a Great Event!!

You Buffett aficionados probably know, Jimmy’s dad was stricken with Alzheimer’s disease. In support of this great event, the Tulsa Parrot

Heads Flocked to Tulsa University to participate in the Alzheimer’s walk.

Parrot Heads started strolling in at around 8:00am for a 9:00am start. While a few already had their favorite parking spots picked-out, parking was not a problem. TU was playing football later that day so there was a possibility things could get hectic

later in the day. We started walking

a little bit late, but shortly after 9:00am we finally hit the trail. Twenty parrot heads signed-up for the event and several

more came to support the crew and ended-up participating. What a great group of fund-raisers’.

Our walkers raised $1,635 for the TPHC Alzheimer group. Nationally, the PHIP have raised $189,971. What an incredible gift for such a worthy cause.

Carol and Don Leading the Walk

Unfortunately, our flock is now one member smaller as we lost Bryan Fraker on September 25, 2017. Bryan grew-up in Tulsa and attended Bishop Kelly before graduating and moving on to the University of Oklahoma.

You could always count on Bryan to help us with our annual Parrot Head Club golf tournament. He will be missed by all.

Parrot Heads Participate in the Very First Sort, Sip and Snack

Event!!!Thirty-three Tulsa Parrot

Heads were greeted by the Community Food Bank staff.

After getting signed in, we were treated with snacks and keg beer. We snacked, drank, and visited for the first thirty minutes. We then moved on into the warehouse.

We labeled, boxed, and stacked assorted canned vegetables. While it was challenging for some to figure

out how to properly apply the labels, we still managed to label 3,500 pounds of cans. We then moved on to boxing and palatalizing the labeled cans.

Of course some of us worked-up a thirst so about half of us decided to go to Blackbird on Pearl to hear Travis Kidd and Brandon Clarke. The other half made their way home.

A group of TPHC volunteers are needed at the Emergency Infant Services building in downtown Tulsa on October 9th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. If you are interested in volunteering, contact:

Jodie [email protected] it is anything like last year, there will be a lot of sorting and rearranging

clothes for the EIS Boutique. It is good rewarding work and if we have a large group of volunteers we will get a lot done. Afterwards, maybe we can set off for a refreshing night cap. Good Times Ahead!
